Trek Wahoo 26

The "Wahoo 26" model from Trek, released in 2022, is a versatile children’s bike available for €574. It features a robust frame made from Alpha Silver aluminium and, weighing just 10 kg, is particularly light. The maximum load capacity is 77 kg, providing sufficient stability and safety for young riders.

The braking system consists of aluminium V-brakes at the front and rear, which have been specially developed for children and are fitted with black aluminium brake levers. These ensure reliable braking performance and ease of use. The gear lever is a Shimano Altus M315 with 8 speeds, enabling precise and responsive gear changes.

The Wahoo 26’s fork is also made of aluminium and features the ThruSkew system, which enhances safety. The pedals are designed with children in mind and measure 9/16". The crankset is made of aluminium with a 28-tooth steel chainring and a chain guard; the crank arm length is 152 mm. The cassette is a Shimano HG31 with 11–34 teeth and is also an 8-speed system.

Power is transmitted via a KMC Z8.3 chain, which is renowned for its durability. The handlebars are aluminium Bontrager bars, 580 mm wide with a 15 mm rise, providing a comfortable riding position. The grips are made from Kraton, a soft and non-slip material that is particularly suitable for children’s hands.

The stem is a Bontrager Comp with a diameter of 31.8 mm; it is Blendr-compatible and has an angle of 7 degrees and a length of 60 mm. The headset is threadless and has a diameter of 1 1/8". The tyres measure 26 x 1.95 and feature a versatile tread pattern that offers good grip on both paved paths and light terrain.

The saddle is specially padded for 24-inch children’s frames, which enhances comfort. The seatpost is a Bontrager Comp made from 6061 aluminium, with a diameter of 27.2 mm, an offset of 8 mm and a length of 250 mm.

The bike is supplied in packaging measuring 22 mm in width, 70 mm in height and 130 mm in length. The model is called the TREK WAHOO 26 26 RD-BK and offers an attractive combination of lightness, stability and child-friendly features.
