Trek Rail 9.9 XTR Gen 4

The "Rail 9.9 XTR Gen 4" model from Trek, released in 2023, is a state-of-the-art e-mountain bike designed for discerning riders. The price for this model is 12,799 EUR. The main frame is made from OCLV Mountain Carbon and features a top tube that is 1.8" lower. It is compatible with the Bosch System Controller and has a Removable Integrated Battery (RIB). The frame also features guided internal cable routing, a 34.9 mm seat tube diameter, a magnesium shift lever and Motor Armor.

The bike’s maximum permissible weight is 136 kg, whilst its kerb weight is 22 kg. Braking performance is provided by front and rear Shimano XTR M9120 hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes with 203 mm brake discs and 6-hole disc mounts. The gear lever is a Shimano XTR M9100 with 12 speeds.

The bike’s fork is a RockShox ZEB Ultimate with AirWiz, DebonAir spring and a Charger 3 RC2 damper. It has a tapered 1.8" oversized steerer tube and is specially optimised for e-MTBs. The suspension travel is 160 mm. The pedals are VP-536 nylon platform pedals, and the crankset is an ethirteen espec Race Carbon with a crank arm length of 165 mm.

The cassette consists of a Shimano XTR M9101 with a 10–51-tooth range and is also a 12-speed system. The drivetrain is a Shimano Dura-Ace/XTR M9100. The handlebars are Bontrager Line Pro made from OCLV carbon, with a width of 780 mm and a rise of 27.5 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Elite with nylon clamps, and the stem is a Bontrager Line Pro with Knock Block and a length of 45 mm.

The tyres are Bontrager SE5 Team Issue and SE6 Team Issue, both tubeless-ready with Core Strength sidewall protection and a size of 29 x 2.50. The wheelset consists of Bontrager Line Pro 30 wheels made from OCLV Mountain Carbon, which are also tubeless-ready and fitted with Rapid Drive 108.

The saddle is a Bontrager Arvada with austenitic struts and a width of 138 mm, whilst the seatpost is a Bontrager Line Elite Dropper with 100 mm of travel and internal cable routing. The saddle is secured via a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

The bike’s motor is a Bosch Performance Line CX Smart System with a magnesium motor housing and a torque output of 85 Nm. The battery is a Bosch PowerTube with a capacity of 625 Wh, also part of the Smart System. The display is a Bosch System Controller BRC3100, and the charger is a standard Bosch charger with a current of 4 A and a voltage of 230 V.

The bike’s geometry comprises a reach of 44 mm, a stack of 62 mm, a seat tube length of 41 mm, a top tube length of 58 mm, a head tube angle of 65 degrees, a seat tube angle of 71 degrees, a head tube length of 10 mm, a chainstay length of 45 mm, a standover height of 76 mm and a wheelbase of 121 mm.
