Trek Powerfly 4 Gen 3

The "Powerfly 4 Gen 3" model from Trek, released in 2022, is a versatile e-mountain bike available at a price of 3,499 EUR. The frame is made from Alpha Platinum aluminium and features a removable integrated battery (RIB). The tapered head tube, internal Control Freak cable routing and Motor Armor provide additional stability and protection. With a maximum load capacity of 136 kg and a kerb weight of 23 kg, the bike is robust yet manoeuvrable.

Both the front and rear brakes are by Tektro and feature a 6-bolt mounting with 203 mm discs, ensuring reliable braking performance. The gear system is supported by the Shimano Deore M4100 10-speed shifter. The pedals are VP-536 nylon platform pedals, which provide good grip. The crankset is an FSA Bosch CK-220 with 36 teeth and a crank arm length of 165 mm. The chainring is a Shimano Deore M4100 with a range of 11–46 teeth, compatible with the KMC X10 10-speed cassette.

The handlebars are made of aluminium by Bontrager, with a diameter of 31.8 mm, a rise of 15 mm and a width of 750 mm. The grips are also by Bontrager, the XR Endurance Comp model with screw-on clamps. The stem is a Bontrager Comp with Blendr compatibility; it has a diameter of 31.8 mm, a 7-degree angle and a length of 70 mm. The headset is an FSA IS-2, with a 1 1/8” top tube and a 1.5” bottom tube.

The tyres are Bontrager XR3 Comp with a clincher bead and a size of 29 x 2.30 inches. The wheelset consists of Bontrager Connection hollow-section rims with an internal width of 20 mm and Presta valves. The front hub is a Formula DC-511 with Boost110 and a 15 mm thru-axle; the rear hub is a Bontrager aluminium hub with sealed bearings and an aluminium axle.

The saddle is a Bontrager Commuter Comp, supported by an aluminium seatpost with a diameter of 31.6 mm, a 12 mm offset and a length of 400 mm. The saddle is clamped in place using a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

Power is provided by a Bosch Performance CX motor with a magnesium motor housing, an output of 250 watts and a torque of 85 Nm. Assistance is provided up to a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The battery is a Bosch PowerTube with a capacity of 500 Wh, which is integrated vertically into the frame. The charger is a standard Bosch charger with a current of 2 A and an input voltage of 100–240 V.

The packaging dimensions are 23 mm in width, 119 mm in height and 201 mm in length. Further geometric data include a reach of 43 mm, a stack of 65 mm, a seat tube length of 47 mm, a top tube length of 64 mm, a head tube angle of 68 degrees, a head tube length of 14 mm, a chainstay length of 46 mm, a standover height of 82 mm and a wheelbase of 118 mm.
