Trek Farley 5

The 2022 Trek Farley 5 is a versatile fat bike that stands out for its robust construction and high-quality components. The frame is made from Alpha Platinum aluminium and features a tapered head tube as well as internal cable routing for the gears and Vario seatpost. In addition, the frame is fitted with luggage rack mounts and horizontally adjustable dropouts (197 x 12 mm). The bike’s maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst it weighs 14 kg.

Braking performance is provided by Avid G2 disc brakes at the front and rear, with a diameter of 160 mm and a 6-hole mount. The gears are controlled by the Shimano Deore M4100 10-speed shifter. The Farley 5 is fitted with the Bontrager Haru fork, which features a tapered aluminium steerer tube and OCLV carbon fork legs. The distance from the axle to the crown is 490 mm and the thru-axle measures 15 x 150 mm.

The pedals are VP-536 nylon platform pedals, whilst the crankset is from Race Face Ride, featuring a steel chainring (28 teeth) and a crank arm length of 175 mm. The rear sprocket is a Shimano Deore M4100 with a range of 11–46 teeth for the 10-speed cassette. Power is transmitted via a KMC X10 chain.

The handlebars are Bontrager aluminium handlebars with a diameter of 31.8 mm, a rise of 15 mm and a width of 750 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Comp with nylon clamps. The stem is also from Bontrager Elite; it has a clamp diameter of 31.8 mm, is Blendr-compatible and has a length of 80 mm with a 7-degree angle. The headset is an FSA IS-2 with a size of 1 1/8" at the top and 1.5" at the bottom.

The wheelset consists of SUNringlé Mulefüt 80 SL rims with 32 holes and cut-outs. The hubs are made of aluminium, have sealed bearings and a 6-hole disc mount. The front hub has a 150 x 15 mm thru-axle, whilst the rear hub features a Rapid Drive 108 freehub for Shimano 10-speed cassettes.

The saddle is a Bontrager Arvada with steel rails and a width of 138 mm. The seatpost is a TranzX JD-YSP18 with 130 mm of travel, internal cable routing, a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 425 mm. The saddle is clamped using a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

The Farley 5’s head tube measures 24 mm in width, 83 mm in height and 158 mm in length. Further geometric data include a reach of 44 mm, a stack of 62 mm, a seat tube length of 47 mm, a top tube length of 63 mm, a head tube angle of 69 degrees, a seat tube angle of 72 degrees, a head tube length of 12 mm, a chainstay length of 46 mm, a standover height of 79 mm and a wheelbase of 116 mm.
