Scott Ransom 930

The 2021 "Ransom 930" model from Scott is a high-quality mountain bike designed for demanding riders. The bike’s frame is made from Ransom Alloy SL 6011, a specially machined aluminium alloy that offers additional stability and flexibility thanks to the VLK Virtual 4 Link kinematics and the TBC Trunnion Box construction. The bike is compatible with both 27.5" and 29" tyres and features a Geo-BB adjustment system that allows for individual customisation. Weighing 15 kg, the Ransom 930 is relatively light for a full-suspension mountain bike in this class.

The Ransom 930’s braking system consists of Shimano MT420 4-piston disc brakes, fitted with a 203 mm Shimano SM-RT30 CL brake disc at the front and an 180 mm Shimano SM-RT30 CL brake disc at the rear. This combination ensures excellent braking performance and control in all riding situations. The gear system is based on the SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed groupset, operated by an SRAM SX Eagle Trigger shifter. The drivetrain is complemented by the SRAM CN SX Eagle chain.

The suspension on the Ransom 930 is particularly noteworthy. The RockShox Zeb R Solo Air fork offers 170 mm of travel and is fitted with a 15x110 mm Maxle Stealth axle and a tapered steerer tube. The X-Fusion NUDE Trunnion rear shock, developed specifically for Scott, offers three modes (Lockout, Traction Control and Descend) and allows the travel to be adjusted between 170 mm and 120 mm.

The bottom bracket is a SRAM DUB PF integrated into a 41x92 mm shell, and the crankset consists of a SRAM X1000 Eagle DUB Boost with a 32T chainring. The cassette is an SRAM NX PG1210 with a gear range of 11–50T.

The Ransom 930’s handlebars are aluminium Syncros Hixon 1.5 Rise bars, 800 mm wide with a 20 mm rise. The stem is also by Syncros and is made from 6061 aluminium. The headset is a Syncros OE Press Fit E2 with a tapered design.

The wheelsets feature Syncros X-30S rims, which are tubeless-ready, and are fitted with Maxxis Assegai tyres at the front (2.6") and Maxxis Dissector tyres at the rear (2.6"). The hubs are by Formula: the front is a CL-811 (15x110 mm) and the rear is a CL-148S (Boost 12x148 mm). The spokes are made of stainless steel and are 1.8 mm thick.

The saddle is a Syncros Kaslo 2.0 with CrMo rails, and the seatpost is a Syncros Duncan 2.5 dropper post, offering a travel of 125 mm to 170 mm depending on frame size. A mudguard for the RockShox Zeb fork is also included.

Priced at 3,199 EUR, the Scott Ransom 930 offers excellent value for money for anyone looking for a versatile and high-performance mountain bike.
