Scott Ransom 920

The 2023 "Ransom 920" model from Scott is a versatile mountain bike characterised by its robust construction and high-quality components. Priced at 4999 EUR, it offers a balanced blend of performance and durability. The frame is made from Ransom Alloy SL 6011 and features VLK Virtual 4 Link kinematics. It is compatible with both 27.5" and 29" tyres and offers geometry and bottom bracket height adjustment. The maximum rider weight is 128 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 15 kg.

The bike is suitable for riders between 170 cm and 180 cm in height. Braking performance is provided by SRAM DB8 4-piston disc brakes at the front and rear, fitted with 200 mm and 180 mm SRAM Centreline rotors respectively. The drivetrain consists of a SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed system, controlled by a SRAM NX Eagle trigger shifter.

The Ransom 920’s suspension is provided by a FOX 38 Float Performance Air fork with 170 mm of travel and a FOX NUDE T EVOL trunnion shock, also offering 170 mm of travel. The shock offers three modes: Lockout, Traction Control and Descend, to adapt to different riding conditions.

The drivetrain consists of an SRAM NX Eagle DUB Boost crankset with a 32T chainring and an SRAM NX PG1210 cassette with a gear range of 11–50T. The handlebars are Syncros Hixon 1.5 Rise alloy bars with a width of 780 mm, a rise of 20 mm and a backsweep of 8 degrees. The grips are Syncros Pro lock-on grips, whilst the stem is a Syncros XM1.5 made from alloy.

The wheelset consists of Syncros Revelstoke 2.5 6-bolt rims, which are tubeless-ready and fitted with Maxxis Assegai 2.5" tyres at the front and Maxxis Dissector 2.4" tyres at the rear. Both tyres offer excellent grip and stability on a variety of surfaces.

The saddle is a Syncros Kaslo 2.0 with CrMo rails, mounted on a Syncros Duncan 2.0 dropper post, which offers a travel of up to 170 mm depending on the frame size. Syncros Trail Fender mudguards ensure the rider stays protected even in bad weather.

The Ransom 920’s geometry features a reach of 440 mm, a stack of 614 mm, a seat tube length of 440 mm and a top tube length of 604 mm. The head tube angle is 65 degrees, whilst the seat tube angle is 75 degrees. Other dimensions include a head tube length of 100 mm, a chainstay length of 438 mm, a bottom bracket drop of 22 mm, a fork offset of 51 mm, a standover height of 746 mm, a fork installation height of 577 mm, a wheelbase of 1216 mm and a bottom bracket height of 354 mm.
