Scott Ransom 920

The 2021 "Ransom 920" model from Scott offers an impressive combination of advanced technology and high-quality components at a price of 3,999 EUR. The bike’s frame is made from a Ransom Alloy SL 6011 alloy, which has been specially tailored and features VLK Virtual 4 Link kinematics. It is compatible with 27.5" (2.6 & 2.8) and 29" (2.4 & 2.6) tyres and features Geo-BB adjustment as well as a TBC Trunnion Box construction. The frame is also designed for Boost 12x148mm axles, and the bike’s total weight is 15 kg.

For the brakes, Scott has opted for the Shimano M6120 4-piston disc system, which is fitted with a 203 mm Shimano SM-RT66 brake disc at the front and an 180 mm disc at the rear. Gear changes are handled by SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed technology, operated via a SRAM NX Eagle trigger shifter.

The front fork is a FOX 38 Float Performance Air with Grip technology, offering three modes (Lockout, Traction Control and Descend) and featuring a 15x110 mm QR axle, a 44 mm offset and a tapered head tube. The travel here is an impressive 170 mm. The rear shock is a FOX NUDE T EVOL Trunnion, which has also been customised by Scott and offers three modes: Lockout, Traction Control and Descend. The rear shock also has a travel of 170 mm.

The bottom bracket is an SRAM DUB PF integrated unit with a shell width of 41x92mm. The crankset consists of an SRAM NX Eagle DUB Boost with a 32T chainring, and the cassette is an SRAM NX PG1210 with a 11–50-tooth range. The drivetrain is completed by an SRAM CN NX Eagle chain.

The handlebars are Syncros Hixon 1.5 Rise made from Alloy 20140D.B., with a 20 mm rise, an 8° sweep and a width of 800 mm, complemented by Syncros Pro Lock-On grips. The stem is a Syncros XM1.5 made from Alloy 6061, featuring an integrated spacer and top cap, a 31.8mm clamp diameter and a 0° angle. The headset is a Syncros Pro Press Fit E2, which tapers from 1.5" to 1 1/8".

The tyres are a Maxxis Assegai at the front, size 2.6" with a 120 TPI Kevlar bead, EXO and TR technology, and 3C Maxx Terra rubber compound, and a Maxxis Dissector at the rear in the same size and specification. The wheelset consists of Syncros Revelstoke 2.5 rims with a tubeless-ready design and a width of 30mm, mounted on Boost hubs (FR: 15x110mm, R: 12x148mm), fitted with Syncros axles featuring a removable lever that requires a tool.

The saddle is a Syncros Kaslo 2.0 with CrMo rails and the seatpost is a Syncros Duncan 2.0 dropper post, which offers different travel lengths depending on frame size (S: 125mm, M: 150 mm, L & XL: 170 mm). The bike is also fitted with a Fox 38 mudguard.
