Scott Genius 960

The 2021 Scott Genius 960 is a versatile mountain bike that stands out for its high-quality components and robust construction. Priced at 2,499 EUR, it offers good value for money for ambitious riders.

The Genius 960’s frame is made from Genius Alloy SL 6011, which has been specially machined and features VLK Virtual 4 Link kinematics. The frame is compatible with 27.5" (2.6 & 2.8) and 29" (2.4 & 2.6) tyres and features a Geo-BB adjustment as well as a TBC Trunnion Box construction. The Boost 12x148mm axle mount provides additional stability and stiffness. The bike’s total weight is 14 kg.

For the brakes, Scott relies on the reliable Shimano MT201 disc brakes, combined with a 203 mm front brake disc and a 180 mm rear disc, both of the Shimano SM-RT30 CL type. The drivetrain consists of a 12-speed SRAM NX Eagle system, controlled by an SRAM SX Eagle Trigger shifter. This enables precise and rapid gear changes, even on challenging terrain.

The Genius 960’s suspension is provided by a Marzocchi Z2 Air Rail 3 fork with 150 mm of travel and an X-Fusion NUDE Trunnion rear shock, also offering 150 mm of travel. Both components offer three modes – Lockout, Traction Control and Descend – to adapt to different riding conditions.

The bottom bracket is an SRAM DUB PF integrated unit with a 41x92mm shell. The crankset consists of an SRAM SX Eagle DUB Boost with a 32T chainring, whilst the cassette is an SRAM SX-PG1210 with a 11–50-tooth range. The drivetrain is completed by an SRAM CN NX Eagle chain.

The handlebars are Syncros Hixon 2.0 made from 6061D.B. alloy, with a 12mm rise and a width of 780mm, fitted with Syncros Pro Lock-On grips. The stem is a Syncros FL2.0 made from 6061 alloy, with a 6° angle and an integrated top cap. The headset is a Syncros Pro Press Fit E2, tapered from 1.5" to 1 1/8".

The rims are Syncros X-30 with 32 spokes and a width of 30mm, tubeless-ready. The tyres are Maxxis Dissector in size 2.6" at the front and Maxxis Rekon in the same size at the rear, both tubeless-ready and fitted with EXO protection. The front hub is a Formula CL-811 with a 15x110mm axle, and the rear hub is a Formula CL-148S Boost with a 12x148mm axle, connected by black stainless steel spokes with a gauge of 15G / 1.8mm.

The package is rounded off by a Syncros Tofino 2.5 Regular saddle and a Syncros Duncan Dropper Post seatpost, which can be adjusted depending on frame size (S: 100mm, M: 130 mm, L & XL: 150 mm).
