Hercules Tourer 21

The 2023 “Tourer 21” from Hercules is a versatile trekking bike designed for both everyday use and longer tours. Priced at 699 EUR, it offers excellent value for money. The frame is made from AL 6061 aluminium from the Trekking Series, which not only gives the bike stability but also a relatively low weight of 18 kg. The maximum load capacity is 135 kg, allowing for a generous payload.

The Tourer 21’s braking system is fitted with Tektro V-brakes, with the Tektro 837AL-EN model fitted at both the front and rear. The brake levers are from Shimano, model ST-EF41, and are specifically designed for V-brakes, ensuring reliable braking performance. The Shimano TX800 derailleur offers 21 gears, operated via Shimano ST-EF41 EZ-Fire shift levers. This enables precise and easy gear selection, supported by the SHIMANO FD-TY510 front derailleur.

The SR Suntour fork, with 40 mm of travel, ensures comfort on uneven terrain. The bike is lit by an AXA Ecoline LED front light providing up to 15 lux and an AXA Slim Steady LED rear light with a parking light function, which enhances safety when cycling at night. The specification is rounded off by Wellgo pedals, a Shimano FC-TY301 crankset and a Shimano CS-HG200-7 cassette. Power is transmitted via a KMC Z7 chain.

A Trekking AL handlebar with a 25.4 mm diameter and a slight 5° backsweep has been chosen, which promotes a comfortable riding position. The adjustable stem and semi-integrated headset offer additional customisation options. The tyres are VeeTire City CruZ in size 40-622, fitted to DBM-1 rims with black steel spokes.

The Selle Royal Trekking saddle, together with the Kalloy seatpost, ensures a comfortable ride. Practical features such as plastic mudguards, a Horn Catena A16 chain guard, a Standwell centre-mount kickstand and an i-Rack system carrier with a spring-loaded flap round off the specification. With a seat tube length of 560 mm, a head tube angle of 71 degrees and a seat tube angle of 73 degrees, the bike offers balanced geometry for a comfortable and efficient ride. The wheelbase of 1099 mm contributes to stability and directional stability. Overall, the Hercules Tourer 21 is a well-equipped trekking bike suitable for a wide range of uses.
