Ghost E-ASX 130 Essential

The "E-ASX 130 Essential" model from Ghost, launched in 2023, is a well-designed and high-performance e-bike priced at 4,499 EUR. The frame is made from high-quality aluminium (EASX AL) and combines 29-inch front wheels with 27.5-inch rear wheels for optimum traction and manoeuvrability.

The braking system comprises Shimano BRMT420/410 203 mm disc brakes, controlled by Shimano BLM4100 brake levers. The front brake disc is a Shimano SMRT30/RTEM300 with a diameter of 203 mm, ensuring reliable braking power. The gear system is a Shimano Deore RDM5100 with 11 speeds, enabling precise and smooth gear changes.

Suspension is provided by an SR Suntour XCM34 Boost DS fork with 130 mm of travel and an SR Suntour Raidon R rear shock, also with 130 mm of travel. This combination offers a comfortable and controlled ride, even on uneven trails. The pedals are VPE527, whilst the crankset consists of an ethirteen espec Plus with a 34T chainring, which, together with the Shimano Deore CSM5100 cassette (11-51) and the Shimano CNHG60111 drivetrain, ensures efficient power transfer.

The handlebars are Ground Fiftyone with a diameter of 31.8 mm and a width of 780 mm (for M–XL frames) or 760 mm (for S frames), combined with WTB Waffle grips and a Ground Fiftyone stem with a length of 45 mm and an angle of 6 degrees. The headset is an Acros AZX205.

The wheelsets consist of DT Swiss 2.0 spokes, WTB ST i25 rims at the front and WTB ST i30 rims at the rear. The tyres are Schwalbe Smart Sam, size 2.35 x 29 inches at the front and size 2.6 x 27.5 inches at the rear. The hubs are a Shimano HBMT400B at the front (15x110 mm) and a Shimano FHMT400B at the rear (12x148 mm).

The saddle is a Selle Royal Vivo, mounted on a GHOST SP DC1 seatpost with a diameter of 31.6 mm and a custom saddle clamp of 34.9 mm. The drivetrain is assisted by a Bosch Performance Line CX motor, powered by a Bosch Power Tube battery with a capacity of 625 Wh. The system is controlled via a Bosch LED remote display and is charged using a Bosch Charger 4 Ah charger.

The frame geometry is well thought out, with a reach of 475 mm, a stack of 640 mm, a seat tube length of 470 mm and a top tube length of 634 mm. The head tube angle is 66 degrees, the seat tube angle 76 degrees, the head tube length 140 mm, the chainstay length 460 mm, the bottom bracket drop 30 mm and the standover height 753 mm. The crank length is 170 mm and the wheelbase measures 1261 mm in total.

The “E-ASX 130 Essential” is therefore a versatile e-bike that is suitable for both everyday use and more challenging off-road riding.
