Focus PLANET² 6.8

The 2023 PLANET² 6.8 model from Focus is a versatile e-bike suitable for both everyday use and longer rides. Priced at 4,999 EUR, it offers a balanced combination of performance and comfort. The frame is made from 7005 hydroformed aluminium using 3D forging technology and features a 148x12 mm thru-axle as well as a USB-C port. The maximum load capacity is 150 kg, which speaks to its high load-bearing capacity.

Braking safety is ensured by the Magura MTC ABS system, featuring hydraulic 2-piston ABS disc brakes and 203 mm brake discs at both the front and rear. The Shimano Deore M4120 10-speed groupset and the Shimano Deore M4100 shift lever offer reliable and precise gear selection. The SR Suntour MOBIE 34 fork, with 100 mm of travel and ABS functionality, contributes to a comfortable ride.

The bike is fitted with a Litemove SE90 LED front light (90 lux) and a TRELOCK LS421 rear light with brake light, which improves visibility in low-light conditions. The pedals are fitted with reflectors, as is typical for MTBs, whilst the FSA CK-320 crankset is made of aluminium. Power is transmitted via a KMC X10 chain, compatible with the 10-speed Shimano Deore M4100 cassette.

The handlebars are 760 mm wide aluminium flat handlebars with a 9° backsweep and a diameter of 35.0 mm. The stem is also made of aluminium, is adjustable and has a length of 60 mm. The RODI TRYP25 rims, fitted with Schwalbe Smart Sam tyres in size 2.25, ensure stability and traction on a variety of surfaces. The front hub is fitted with a thru-axle (15x100 mm) and the rear with a Novatec D462SB hub (12x148 mm).

The Selle Royal Vivo saddle and the 31.6 mm aluminium seatpost offer comfort on long rides. The Eurofender Duo plastic mudguards with edge protection, as well as the Racktime Snap-It luggage rack, which can carry up to 25 kg, round off the spec. The bike is powered by a Bosch Performance CX Gen4 motor with 85 Nm of torque and an output of 250 W, combined with an integrated Li-ion battery with a capacity of 625 Wh. It is controlled via the Bosch LED Remote + Intuvia 100 display.

The bike’s geometry is well thought out, with a reach of 440 mm, a stack of 656 mm and a top tube length of 634 mm. The head tube angle is 68 degrees and the seat tube angle is 73 degrees, which allows for a comfortable riding position. Other dimensions, such as the head tube length of 140 mm, the chainstay length of 470 mm, the bottom bracket drop of 65 mm and the wheelbase of 1191 mm, contribute to the stability and agility of the PLANET² 6.8.
