Cannondale Scalpel Carbon 2

The 2024 Cannondale Scalpel Carbon 2 is a state-of-the-art mountain bike designed for demanding cross-country riders. With a price tag of 5299 EUR, this model offers an impressive combination of advanced technology and high-quality equipment.

The frame of the Scalpel Carbon 2 is made of light and robust carbon and has 100 mm of suspension travel. The Proportional Response Tuned design and the FlexPivot chainstay ensure optimum suspension performance and excellent handling. The frame is equipped with a PF30-83 bottom bracket, a tapered head tube and a Speed Release 12 mm thru axle.

The brakes and brake levers are Shimano XT hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm XT rotors, which ensure reliable braking performance. The gearing also consists of Shimano XT components, including a 12-speed rear derailleur and shifter, which enables precise and fast gear changes.

The Lefty Ocho fork with 100 mm travel, chamber damper with remote lockout and OppO Spring System offers excellent damping and control. The Fox Float DPS Performance Elite EVOL shock with remote lockout and adjustable rebound complements the suspension system and ensures a smooth ride.

The Scalpel Carbon 2 is equipped with a HollowGram crankset, which includes a BB30a bottom bracket and an OPI SpideRing with 34 teeth. The Shimano XT sprocket with 10-51 teeth offers a wide range of gear ratios for different types of terrain.

The Cannondale 2 Flat handlebars made of butted 2014 aluminium have a width of 760 mm, a rise of 3° and a backsweep of 8°. The stem is a Cannondale 1 model made of 7075 aluminium with an angle of 7°. The grips are made of Cannondale XC silicone, which ensures a good grip.

The wheels are made of HollowGram 25 Superlight Hi-Impact carbon rims with an inner width of 25 mm and are tubeless ready. The Schwalbe Racing Ray EVO tyres at the front and Racing Ralph EVO tyres at the rear, both in size 29x2.25" and equipped with SnakeSkin and Addix Speedgrip or Addix Speed, offer excellent grip and puncture protection.

The hubs are high-quality HollowGram models, Lefty 60 at the front and HollowGram at the rear with DT Swiss Star Ratchet mechanism, which ensures reliable performance. The spokes are HollowGram Straight-Pull models.

The saddle is a Prologo Dimension NDR with STN rails, supported by a Cannondale 2 seatpost made of 7075 aluminium with the dimensions 31.6x400 mm.

The geometry of the bike includes a reach of 455 mm, a stack of 601 mm, a seat tube length of 480 mm, a top tube length of 622 mm, a head tube angle of 68°, a seat tube angle of 75°, a head tube length of 115 mm, a chainstay length of 436 mm, a fork pre-bend of 55 mm, a standover height of 745 mm and a wheelbase of 1175 mm.
