Cube Stereo ONE22 HPC TM

Cube Stereo ONE22 HPC TM

The Cube One22 HPC is a classic on tour. It is light and manoeuvrable. The Cube masters undulating single trails and twisty courses with ease, and short counter-climbs are easy to roll down. The suspension is also more potent than the filigree bike suggests.

>> You can find the complete test report here: The Cube One22 HPC TM 29 on test

Equipment

  • Frame material: carbon/aluminium
  • Frame size: S, M, L, XL
  • Fork: Fox 34 Float Rhythm Fit Grip
  • Shock: Fox Float DPS Performance
  • Front/rear suspension travel: 131/127 mm
  • Gear system: Sram GX Eagle 1 x 12

  • Telescopic post / stroke / Ø: Cube Dropper Post /150 mm/31.6 mm
  • Wheels: Fulcrum Red Metal500
  • Tyres: Maxxis Ardent; Exo Protection TR29x2.40

Conclusion on the Cube One22 HPC TM 29 by Stefan Frey, BIKE editor:

Cube delivers a tourer with classic virtues: light, manoeuvrable, comfortable. The geometry with a slack seat angle looks a little old-fashioned. The rear triangle wastes potential both on climbs and descents.

One size fits all also applies here, even if you sit upright and comfortably throughout. Conclusion on the Bergamont Hans-E by Georg Bleicher, MYBIKE test editor

The Hans-E is a compact bike for the city with a lot of compact, transport and space-saving potential. We would have preferred a hub gear - but this would probably no longer be feasible at this price. Caution: Pay attention to the payload! - Georg Bleicher, test editor

Supernova M99 Mini Pro

Supernova M99 Mini Pro
Photo: Max Fuchs

When it comes to high beam, the Supernova M99 Mini Pro headlight is second to none. The upward beam angle is almost twice as high as that of its competitors - despite the suspension fork dipping down, you have everything in view. The light patterns of the low beam and high beam are very similar. Both have a very bright, homogeneous centre. However, the modes differ significantly in terms of luminosity. The peripheral areas are pleasantly bright. The Freiburg lights are on a par with Lupine when it comes to illumination in bends. Very pleasant low beam.

  • High beam: Lumen measured: 1244
  • Low beam: Lumen measured: 416

Valuation

  • Efficiency: 10 out of 10
  • High beam: 10 out of 10
  • Low beam: 9 out of 10
  • Handling: 7 out of 10

Schwalbe's Magic Mary supertrail tyres have shed 200 grams compared to the last test. Also new: the Magic Mary in the thinner Superground version. Anyone looking for a lightweight front tyre with top traction and good cornering grip will find this enduro tyre hard to resist. Especially as the rolling resistance is also at a very good level.

The Big Betty on the rear wheel could not quite keep up in the practical test. Overall, this combination offers a good compromise between weight, puncture protection and riding characteristics. The front tyre with its aggressive tread also works excellently on deep ground.

Northwave Celsius XC Arctic GTX

The best weather protection for your feet in winter is the winter shoe. We recommend the mountain bike shoe with a treaded sole because of its better walking properties on slippery surfaces. The Northwave Celsius XC Arctic GTX scored excellent marks in the categories of waterproofness, handling, features and weight. As the shoe offers comparatively much space on the inside, it is not too tight even with thick socks. Slipping into the shoe through the tubular upper is best done with a shoehorn.

Kryptonite Evolution 790 folding lock

Kryptonite Evolution 790 folding lock

There is nothing to criticise about the Kryptonite folding lock. The solid and easy-to-use bracket can be attached to the frame at many points, and the locking process is permanently smooth. A 360-degree rotating head makes it easier to bring the lock together. Six fully rubberised links allow flexible connection options and prevent scratches on the frame. The bike lock could not be picked with any of the standard methods in the time available.

Eufab LAS SD 260 bike rack for trailer coupling

Photo: Jan Timmermann

The Eufab SD260 solves a fundamental problem: with the extendable bike carrier for the trailer coupling, the boot always remains accessible - even in camping vans with hinged doors! It fulfils its primary job as a bike carrier safely and reliably, even under the toughest conditions. The pull-out function is simple and effectively creates space for large rear doors. Considering the wide range of applications, the price is also reasonable.

If you want to transport your bikes on the towbar of a camper, you should definitely take a closer look at the Eufab SD260. - Jan Timmermann, BIKE test editor
