The Bico Falter E 10.0 is our first bike with an ABS system. The abbreviation means like on a car: no locking of the wheels! In fact, the Bosch ABS on the Falter E 10.0 works in exactly the same way. Even on gravel tracks, you can - when travelling straight ahead - fully grip the irons and the bike remains controllable. On tarmac, the fear of rolling over is a thing of the past.
However, the four-piston brake from Magura loses some of its modulation and power and feels comparatively spongy. Nevertheless, if you want to prevent the front wheel from locking up even when braking dangerously and on loose surfaces - the Bico can do it! The overall handling of the bike conveys safety.
The handlebars are clearly cranked, the riding position rather upright. The E10.0 is best at straight-ahead riding and long curves, less manoeuvrable. This is also due to the thick 29-inch tyres. The suspension fork with 80 mm travel helps well over potholes or cycle path ascents. The lowerable suspension support is not very sensitive, but contributes to the overall comfort and is torsion-proof. The basics: the aluminium frame is stiff and cleanly constructed. Less convincing are the tangled cable routing in the frame and the possible conflict between the right pannier and the gear cable. Shifting is done with Shimano's U6000 Cues groupset. The aim was to keep the price low, which was achieved with the ABS system at 4699.99 euros.
If you're looking for ABS, the Bico Falter E 10.0 is a rather comfortable but powerful mid-range tourer with a wide range of uses at an affordable price.
