The latest gravel bike from Orbea is called Terra Race. The name says it all: it is characterised by race-optimised geometry and aerodynamic improvements designed to increase efficiency and speed in gravel races. The carbon frame weighs 910 grams and is said to promise maximum stiffness.

Orbea is expanding its gravel range with a new racing model. According to the manufacturer, the Terra Race is specially designed for fast, tough competitions on unpaved tracks. The centrepiece is the new OMX carbon frame, which weighs 910 grams and is around 300 grams lighter than previous Terra models. To achieve this, Orbea relies on highly modular carbon fibres that are laser-cut and precisely positioned. This is intended to maximise the frame's rigidity in key areas while saving weight elsewhere. The corresponding OMX fork weighs 425 grams.

Optimised weight and better aerodynamics

In addition to the low weight, Orbea has also optimised the aerodynamics of the Terra Race, according to the press release. The cable routing is completely internal, the SH-RA10 OC aero cockpit is integrated and the seat clamp is hidden. These details are intended to reduce aerodynamic drag and ensure a clean appearance. According to Orbea, the rear triangle is designed to dampen high-frequency vibrations without compromising the direct ride feel. This should ensure more control and efficient power transmission even on rough tracks.

Made for fast gravel racing

The geometry has been specially optimised for gravel racing. Orbea speaks of a "Gravel Racing Geometry" with a lower stack, longer reach and adapted bottom bracket height. Compared to other Gravel bikes enable a more aerodynamic riding position and ensure stability at high speeds on loose surfaces. According to the manufacturer, the frame stiffness has been tuned to ensure direct power transmission. Stiffness has also been optimised for size - large frames are stiffer where necessary, while smaller frames should remain light and agile.

1 or 2-speed drives & up to 45 mm tyres possible

The Terra Race can be adapted to a wide range of applications. Orbea offers both 1x and 2x drivetrains. The tyre clearance is up to 45 millimetres, so that rolling resistance, grip and comfort can be adjusted depending on the route. The bike is UDH-compatible, which increases the choice of drivetrains. The OQUO RP50LTD wheels with 50 millimetre high carbon rims are available for particularly aerodynamic set-ups. The cockpit and ergonomics can be customised, for example with gravel handlebars with flare or a 15-millimetre riser bar for a higher riding position.

Online configurator for a customised Orbea Terra Race

About Orbeas MyO programme, the race gravel bike can be individually configured. In addition to the equipment, the paint finish can also be customised. Alternatively, there are three standard colours to choose from: Frozen Concrete, Spaceship Green and Sunset Carbon. According to Orbea, all model variants are available immediately.

The Terra Race M20LTD with Shimano GRX 2x12 drivetrain is available on the Orbea website from € 4999, while the Terra Race M31eLTD with SRAM FC RIVAL 1x13 drivetrain is available for € 5499. The Terra Race M11eLTD with Sram Red XPLR AXS 1x13 drivetrain with power meter is at the top end of the range for 9999 euros.
