The Megamo Reason CRB 00 stands out from the CRB 02 – which is 5,000 euros cheaper – primarily due to its even more exclusive features. Whether these actually offer any significant added value when riding is debatable. The choice between Fox Podium and RockShox Zeb Ultimate is more a matter of personal preference; the functional difference between an SRAM XX Eagle AXS T-Type and an SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS T-Type is just as negligible as the advantages of carbon wheels. One thing is certain, however: anyone with the necessary budget will find that the CRB 00 is an exceptional high-end machine with an elaborate custom paint finish and a specification that truly leaves nothing to be desired. At a price of 13,999 euros, however, the Megamo must measure up against the top models from established premium brands.
The Megamo Reason CRB 00 is not a completely new e-MTB, but a particularly well-equipped version of the Megamo Reason unveiled in the spring. It is based on the sleek full-carbon frame from the Reason series. For the CRB 00, however, Megamo has combined this frame with components that go well beyond those found on a standard production model.
The focus is on the Avinox M2S motor, a high-quality Fox suspension system with a Podium fork, a wireless SRAM XX groupset, powerful SRAM Maven Ultimate brakes, premium DT Swiss carbon wheels and an electronic Fox Transfer dropper post. Added to this is an eye-catching custom paint finish that clearly sets the bike apart from the other Reason models.
The Reason CRB 00 features a full-carbon frame, 160-millimetre suspension, the new, even more powerful Avinox M2S motor and an 800 Wh battery. The battery is integrated so seamlessly into the down tube that the bike’s silhouette is more reminiscent of a classic mountain bike than an e-MTB.
The shock mount on the rear triangle is adjustable via a flip-chip. This allows the geometry to be adapted to the rider’s style and the terrain. In the flatter ‘Low’ position, the bike is more stable and offers a smoother ride. The higher setting is designed to make the handling slightly more agile and to alter the pedalling angle slightly. The head angle is very flat at 63.5 degrees, whilst the seat angle is steep at 77 degrees – these are modern enduro specifications. Combined with the long reach and wheelbase, this results in a riding position clearly geared towards downhill riding and a geometry designed for speed and control.
The values are given for the high and low positions of the flip-chip respectively.

Megamo has equipped the Reason with progressive rear suspension kinematics. According to the manufacturer, the progression is 21 per cent. This is designed to ensure the suspension responds sensitively at the start of the travel and becomes progressively stiffer during larger impacts. This is intended to ensure the rear end provides sufficient traction on technical trails, whilst preventing it from compressing too quickly during jumps, hard landings and deep compression. The anti-squat curve has also been tuned to the combination of e-MTB weight and a powerful motor. Values of up to 108 per cent in the SAG range are designed to reduce bobbing whilst pedalling. At the same time, the rear suspension remains active during larger impacts. The anti-dive tuning is also intended to prevent the front end from diving excessively during hard braking.
In normal operation, the Avinox M2S motor delivers up to 130 Newton-metres of torque and 1,300 watts of peak power. In Boost mode, it can deliver up to 150 Newton metres for a short period. This makes the Chinese sensation a frontrunner in the current e-MTB market. Despite its high performance, the motor is compact and weighs just 2.6 kilograms. Power is supplied by a permanently integrated battery with a capacity of 800 watt-hours. Several assistance levels are available, including Eco, Trail, Auto, Turbo and Boost. The Avinox system also features an integrated OLED touchscreen and smartphone connectivity.
When it comes to spec, Megamo has pulled out all the stops with the Reason CRB 00. The 12-speed SRAM XX Eagle T-Type drivetrain is wireless. The generous gear range, spanning 10 to 52 teeth, is ideal for both steep climbs and fast transition sections. Braking is handled by SRAM Maven Ultimate brakes with large 203-millimetre discs. For the wheels, Megamo has opted for a high-quality DT Swiss carbon wheelset with 2.5-inch-wide Maxxis Assegai tyres at the front and 2.4-inch-wide Minion DHR II tyres at the rear. It also features a wireless Fox Transfer seatpost. There’s no question about it – there’s really no room for improvement here.
Visually, the CRB 00 stands out primarily due to its special paint finish. The finish echoes the organic shape of the carbon frame, elevating the bike to more than just another specification level. It is a deliberately exclusive, one-off model within the Reason range.
