Outsiders in particular wonder why mountain bikes are so expensive. Unlike motorbikes and cars, there's not much to it. We say: Yes, there is something to it, but that is also the reason why many high-quality bikes are so expensive. Unlike motorbikes and cars, weight plays a decisive role, especially in the cross-country discipline. To save a few grams of weight, you have to dig deep into your pockets. The quantities are also different and certainly another reason for the sometimes utopian prices.
But it is also a fact that the Dacia Sandero starts at a list price of 12,400 euros. Cheaper than our sixth-placed bike, the Trek Supercaliber SLR 9.9. And yes, that's crazy. Here are the 6 most expensive bikes available on the market as of March 2025 (RRP).
6th place | Trek Supercaliber SLR 9.9

Only the finest components were selected for the add-on parts, which you can really expect at such a price. For comparison: childless singles (single people) in Bulgaria earn around 12,056 euros gross per year on average (as of 2023). Crazy!
