Whether unsprung steel hardtail, fatbike or pimped-up custom bike - the bikes of the participants were almost more exciting than the racing action at the Enduro One race in Trieb. We have collected the 17 most interesting race enduro bikes for you and spoken to their owners. Have fun browsing!

With the purple anodised parts and the silver wheels, my Orange Satsuma looks simply awesome! But what's even better is that with the 26-inch rear wheel and 27.5-inch front wheel, it fits my size perfectly. It's not easy to find full-size mountain bikes for children my age. - Matz
Thorsten, 50, Grin OnePhoto: Max FuchsThorsten, 50, Grin One
My best mate has a bike shop and recently became a partner of Grin Bikes. So I was able to sit on one of the first prototypes and was immediately impressed. I even got my own Grin before the first series production. - Thorsten
Lisann, 26, Scor 4060 LTPhoto: Max FuchsLisann, 26, Scor 4060 LT
I have built myself a Scor 4060 LT. To make the bike fit my height better, I fitted a lighter Rockshox Lyrik fork with only 160 millimetres of travel instead of the thick 170 mm fork and a small 27.5-inch rear wheel. This makes the bike easier to handle. - Lisann

It feels like riding a tractor. I simply roll over obstacles that you would get stuck on or hit with a normal bike. Even though the fat wheels naturally accelerate less quickly, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for me downhill. And the fact that I won in my age group here in Trieb shows that it works. - Max

I bought the frame with shock, handlebars and stem as a set. I chose the other parts myself and bolted them on. My wheel set-up is a little unusual: I ride a cross-country rim at the front to save weight and a more stable all-mountain rim on the rear wheel - all spoked myself, of course. - Hannes
Gabriel, 13, Santa Cruz BronsonPhoto: Max FuchsGabriel, 13, Santa Cruz Bronson
When Danny MacAskill released the video The Ridge my dad fell in love with his Santa Cruz Bronson and immediately tried to recreate the bike from the video. It worked - and now it's mine. - Gabriel

I love a challenge. And with this bike, every trail, no matter how tame, feels like a black track. When I ride it in enduro races, I'm always up against the last place. So far, I've never lost! - Jakob

Everything had to happen quickly for me: I packed up the Radon Jab, rode to the race, done! The only tuning: I converted to tubeless the evening before. As a fanboy of Amaury-Pierron, I put on his signature tyres: Schwalbe Tacky Chan with Super DH casing and Addix Ultra Soft rubber. I took care of the suspension setup on site. I tuned according to the table and softened the fork a little. My tech buddy Max checked it again and said: "It fits!" At the very last second before the start of the prologue, I pulled out the spacers under the stem - much better a little flatter at the front! - Dimitri
Josha, 32, Canyon SpectralPhoto: Max FuchsJosha, 32, Canyon Spectral
I rode my first enduro race here in Trieb. At first I had doubts as to whether I would be able to cope with my trail bike on the tracks. Now I can only say: I don't understand why everyone rides these heavy enduro bikes. The Spectral was perfect for the pedalling-heavy trails. Every centimetre more travel would have been excessive. - Josha
Leni, 19, Scott RansomPhoto: Max FuchsLeni, 19, Scott Ransom
My Ransom is of course not off the peg. I'm sponsored by SR Suntour and TRP - hence the drivetrain, brakes and suspension. Especially for the race in Trieb, I just stuck a few bars under my top tube because I forgot my rucksack (laughs). - Leni
Kirill, 29, RAAW Madonna V2Photo: Max FuchsKirill, 29, RAAW Madonna V2
Everything about the bike has a rarity value. It starts with the suspension fork and the shock (Intend Edge / Push ElevenSix) and ends with the paintwork. I did the latter myself at work. Why is my right seat stay still in the RAAW look? I wrecked my rear derailleur during my last race. I took the opportunity to order a UDH seat stay from RAAW so that I could finally ride a SRAM transmission rear derailleur. - Kirill
Konrad, 18, Pivot FirebirdPhoto: Max FuchsKonrad, 18, Pivot Firebird
Without enough water, nothing works for me. That's why I've fitted a bottle cage to my Pivot Firebird, both on the down tube and underneath. Luckily, there are now models with a Fidlock standard. This keeps my bike looking clean, even if I only have one bottle with me. - Konrad
Frank, 40, Orbea RisePhoto: Max FuchsFrank, 40, Orbea Rise
When I ride enduro races, it's without a motor. And if I should ever get the idea of registering in the E-class, I wouldn't ride a light e-mountainbike like the Rise! I only have the bike with me to pull my son up the mountains in the Kids Race. - Frank
Marvin, 35, Evil WreckoningPhoto: Max FuchsMarvin, 35, Evil Wreckoning
I particularly like the wheels on my Evil. They are super stable carbon rims from 77designz, which I spoked myself with DT Swiss hubs. Add to that ultra grippy radial tyres from Schwalbe and they really enhance the riding experience! - Marvin
Markus, 34, Ibis HD6Photo: Max FuchsMarkus, 34, Ibis HD6
The clear highlight of my bike: the purple colour. I am particularly proud of the fork. This Intend Ebonite is only available twice in the world in this purple anodised finish. Also important: I come from the cross-root paradise of Ilmenau. The new radial tyres from Schwalbe are a real game changer here. - Markus
