The Upper Franconian bike city of Trieb - a district of Lichtenfels - was dominated by the Enduro One race series last weekend. The second stop attracted numerous participants and spectators to the region on the edge of the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park. Six varied stages with a total of around 900 metres in altitude demanded everything from the riders.
The third stage, which led through the centre of Lichtenfels, proved to be a particular highlight. Starting in the pedestrian zone and finishing on the market square, this section of the route brought enduro racing directly to the spectators. A live moderator provided additional entertainment and explained the Enduro One race format to newcomers on the side of the track.
In addition to the urban stage, the other sections of the route also offered numerous challenges for the mountain bike racers. The course designers at RVC Trieb had done a great job and put together a mixture of technical root passages, high-speed sections and flowing trails.
The first and fifth stages on the Krappenberg in particular turned out to be real crowd-pullers. The first decisions were made here right at the start, and at the end there was another chance to make up crucial seconds.
In the E1 Pro class, the riders fought thrilling duels. Local hero Max Leikeim from RVC Trieb initially set an impressive pace, but was beaten by Felix Schimmer in the end. Benjamin Paul, who stumbled on the first stage, fought his way up to third place.
Hanna Blochberger dominated the women's race, securing the best time on every special stage. She was followed in second and third place by Aaliyah Wagner and Luisa Bodem. In the e-bike category, Chris Rothenbach came out on top with a commanding lead, finishing around ten seconds ahead of second-placed Kevin Lindner. Marvin Riss took third place.
Young cyclists also showed off their skills at the Eightshot Wild Childs. Around 80 children and teenagers competed in various age groups. Milan Moll won the U10 category, Maximilian Funke prevailed among the U13 riders and Alexander Ent triumphed in the U16 class.
The organisation team led by Marc Kober and Thomas Sünkel from RVC Trieb ensured that the event ran smoothly. "For us as organisers, the aim is always to create an experience for riders and spectators - sporty and challenging, but with a real event character. The weekend showed what is possible with commitment, teamwork and an enthusiastic community," the two organisers summed up.
The Enduro One Series 2025 continues on 28 and 29 June with the next stop in Roßbach in Spessart.
