Following the launch of the Alcatraz 2 and Alcatraz 1 MTB children's models in July this year, Marin is expanding the series with the new Alcatraz 24. This 24-inch MTB was developed according to the same concept as the 26-inch models, but is aimed at younger, smaller riders who want to ride an even more compact dirt jump or pump track bike.
The Marin Alcatraz 24 uses the same frame tubes as its larger siblings and has a reach of 360 millimetres, a head angle of 69 degrees and a seat tube angle of 72 degrees, with a chainstay length of 369 millimetres.
The rigid CrMo fork, designed for high loads when jumping, is ready for intensive use. The uncomplicated single-speed drivetrain and reliable Tektro disc brakes are designed to ensure that riding enjoyment remains maintenance-free.
The Alcatraz frame was developed in collaboration with Marin ambassador and MTB legend Matt Jones. The Alcatraz 2 and 1 models (below) for the "big guys" use the same frame at their core, but are available in two sizes - short and long - each with a longer reach of 385 and 430 millimetres respectively.
You can find even more children's and youth bikes here:
The main differences between the Alcatraz 1 and 2 models are in the equipment: The Alcatraz 2 is equipped with a Manitou Circus suspension fork and hydraulic Shimano disc brakes. In contrast, the Alcatraz 1 has a robust CrMo rigid fork and mechanical Tektro disc brakes.
The Alcatraz 2 is equipped with a dirt jump-specific steel suspension fork, hydraulic brakes and a good price-performance ratio.
The Marin Alcatraz 1 is the right companion for pump tracks and dirt jumps for anyone who wants to get into this sport or wants to spend less on it. The Alcatraz 1 has the same frame characteristics as the Alcatraz 2, but comes with a CrMo rigid fork and mechanical brakes.
And there is also a frame set for anyone who would like to build their dream bike or take components from their current dirt jump bike.
