Woom bikes are for the little ones - I'm sure many people know that by now and the reputation of the Austrians is almost on a par with a Bobby Car or a Tempo. Ok, Puky is one step further. The Germanist speaks here of a "deonym". A word makes the leap from a proper name to a generic name.
But now Woom wants to make the leap from the first children's bike to the second and is launching the Woom Explore 4, 5 and 6. A bike that was created for younger children who are already "fit to ride".
Based on feedback from our customers and dealers and the results of large-scale market research, we have set ourselves the task of developing a Woom Bike specifically for children aged 6 and over that is clearly different from the Woom Bikes for younger children. - Nicole Lunzer, Marketing Manager Woom
And Matthias Leite-Gürtner, product designer at Woom, explains the design changes that the new children's bike now brings to the way to school, afternoons off or weekend tours with parents: "The new frame design with a flattened kink and more angular frame tubes gives the Woom Explore its very special, cool look. The new bike geometry creates a sporty, dynamic riding position that optimises handling and offers comfort at the same time".
Hydraulic disc brakes with adjustable levers are designed to ensure safe braking on any surface. The new, narrow Ergogrips, handlebar grips specially developed for children's hands, are designed to provide good grip and fatigue-free gripping even on long tours. The lightweight and agile Billy Bonkers all-terrain tyres from Schwalbe roll and bite well, whether on asphalt, gravel or in the forest, so that children can ride with good control and thus increase their self-confidence in the bike and themselves.
We have also paid particular attention to the saddle. In collaboration with Selle Royal, we have developed a real game changer in terms of seating comfort. The new, ergonomic saddle has been specially customised for every bike size (...) - Matthias Leite-Gürtner, Product Designer Woom
For children between the ages of 6 and 14 - an age group that is already beginning to develop its own ideas of style and taste - the Woom Explore has a sporty design that differs from the more cuddly children's bikes. The new bike is also available in four colours - Woom red, magnetic blue, jungle green and neon coral - with a matt paint finish. With stickers for the bike frame, kids also have the opportunity to further express their own style and customise their own Woom Explore - just like the grown-ups.
Children in the target age group of 6 to 14: "An age group that no longer wants to be associated with childish attributes. Age-specific codes such as clothing, brand affinity and language influence their social behaviour and their strict judgement of what is cool and what is not," says Nicole Lunzer, explaining the results of a market research study that Woom conducted before developing the Explore bike.
Three models are available in 20, 24 and 26 inches
The new Woom Explore is now available online and from selected specialist retailers. Optional accessories are available on purchase: Mudguards, pannier rack, kickstand, bell and removable lights.
