As a bike brand, Liv wants to inspire more female cyclists to take up the sport with dedicated women's bikes. Giant, the group to which Liv belongs, has now unveiled its latest model: the Liv Lurra E+ series - a bike for women. the non-motorised Liv Lurra was launched just over a year ago. This new hardtail e-mountainbike with a 130 mm suspension fork has been developed for adventurous women who like to climb single trails, want fast descents or want to benefit from an extra boost on longer tours with luggage. The Lurra E+ models are equipped with a special frame geometry that is optimised for 27.5-inch bikes in sizes XS and S and for 29-inch bikes in sizes M and L.
The range comprises three variants: The Liv Lurra E+ 2 is the pure E-MTB for off-road use, while the Liv Lurra E+ 1 EX and 2 EX are aimed at a wider range of applications where it makes sense to equip the bike with mudguards, pannier rack, kickstand and lighting system, for example as a touring e-bike for bikepacking. The Lurra E+ 2 can also be equipped with these extras.
The Lurra E+ 1 EX also has a more powerful motor (SyncDrive Pro2 with 85Nm) and thicker battery (EnergyPak 800 Wh) compared to the other two bikes with SyncDrive Sport2 (75 Nm) and the EnergyPak with 625 Wh.
The Lurra E+ was developed for riders who prefer the high speed and simplicity of a hardtail, whether for short after-work laps or long bike tours. - Cassandra Chou, Liv Global E-Bike Category Manager.
The e-bikes in the Liv Lurra E+ series have an SR Suntour XCR 34 suspension fork with 130 mm travel and aluminium frames that are designed to be both stable and light thanks to a 6061 alloy. The easy-to-remove battery is seamlessly embedded in the down tube. The RideControl Dash 2-in-1 control unit from Liv shows all the important riding data at a glance and also offers a Walk Assist function for easy pushing of the bike on the mountain. According to the manufacturer, the Smart Assist mode optimises support by analysing data from 6 sensors, which are designed to record both the rider's actions and the nature of the terrain.
The Liv Lurra E+ 2 and E+ 2 EX models are equipped with the SyncDrive Sport2 motor, a quiet and compact drive unit developed in collaboration between Giant and Yamaha. With a torque of 75 Nm, this electric motor offers riders a powerful feeling at all speeds and in various conditions. The Sport-2 motor enables a maximum support power of up to 400%, which ensures a dynamic riding experience, especially at low speeds.
The EnergyPak Smart 625 battery, which is used in conjunction with the SyncDrive Sport 2 motor, should achieve an average range of 110 km, or up to 190 km depending on use. For longer tours, the EnergyPak Plus 250 range extender can be added as an option or you can opt for an upgrade to the EnergyPak 800 battery for an even greater range. The EX is fully equipped with an in-house luggage rack and kickstand as well as a lighting system consisting of a Giant Recon front light and Axa BlueLine Steady E6 rear light.
The Liv Lurra E+ 1 EX is equipped with the SyncDrive Pro 2 motor, also co-developed by Yamaha, which is not only the lightest e-bike motor from Liv, but also has the highest torque within the Lurra E+ series at 85 Nm. Users have the option of adjusting the support up to four times their own power. The EnergyPak Smart 800 battery, which was developed in collaboration with Panasonic and uses special 22700 cells for e-bikes, is designed to deliver particularly efficient power.
And thanks to the use of Liv's Smart Chargers, this battery can be recharged up to 2300 times. In combination with the built-in SyncDrive Pro 2 motor, a maximum range of up to 250 km and an average of around 140 km should be possible according to the manufacturer. The optional EnergyPak Plus 250 range extender is also available here, which increases the average range to up to 190 kilometres.
The Liv Lurra E+ range will be available from specialist retailers from 20 May in sizes XS, S, M and L.
