The Salsa Rangefinder first appeared in the US company's portfolio in 2020. Even back then, the budget-friendly aluminium hardtail shone with all kinds of bikepacking details. For example, the successor can also fit two water bottles in the frame triangle as well as extensive touring equipment at the mounting points on the down tube, top tube and rear triangle.
However, the equipment variants are new: the Rangefinder is now available in four versions. For all models, you can choose between 27.5-inch wheels with extra-thick Plus tyres or classic 29-inch wheels. In terms of suspension travel, however, all models rely on forks with 120 millimetres.
A dropper post fits every Rangefinder, depending on the model it is already standard. Salsa is customer-friendly when it comes to frame sizes: with sizes from XS to XL, the Americans have the right carefree bike for almost every body size.
The entry-level models entice with favourable prices just above the 1000 mark, the equipment is spartan: 10-speed gears (Shimano Deore or Microshift Advent X), steel suspension forks, rigid seatposts. Other models increase the number of gears by one and save some weight with air suspension forks, which the Tele support adds back on. According to the manufacturer, the top model with 12-speed Deore, 34 mm air fork and Tele support weighs 14.8 kilograms.
Only the cheapest version with 10 gears, 32 mm steel suspension fork and without a dropper post will come to Europe. According to the manufacturer, the weight of this model is 14.7 kilos in size M and the price is 1099 euros.
