With the Dirt E+ Hardtail, Giant is also presenting an e-mountainbike that carries the battery in the down tube. The additional power comes from a Yamaha SyncDrive drive.

Compared to the current season's model, the 2016 E-MTB model from Giant has undergone significant further development. A new generation Giant SyncDrive motor sits in the centre of the Dirt E+ frame. The other e-components are also our own specification. The battery has been moved to the bulky down tube and delivers 500 Wh. The climbing characteristics should be very good even at low speeds. The motor delivers 80 Nm of torque and there are two chainrings on the ISIS axle which, in combination with an 11-42 cassette, offer a wide gear spread. We find the zero-cadence support particularly interesting, with which the drive provides support from the very first press of the pedal.

Three versions of the hardtail with 27.5-inch wheels are available: Version 0 with 11-speed Shimano XT and long-travel Vario seatpost, Version 1 with 10-speed XT and Version 2 with 9-speed Deore gears and a smaller 400 watt-hour battery pack.
