Giant calls its drive system Syncdrive. The centrepiece is a Yamaha motor that is specially adapted to the integrated battery. This gives the bike its individual look with the massive down tube.

Unfortunately, the motor control knobs on the handlebars don't give much feedback and Giant doesn't have a walk assist. The bike has two shiftable chainrings and a wide gear range. When riding, the extremely long head tube and the very flared handlebars have a negative effect. There is a lack of pressure on the front wheel, which means that the bike rears up early on the climbs. Downhill, it becomes more difficult to hold the line - there is a lack of traction, which is also due to the narrow tyres.

ConclusionIf you prefer an upright riding position, the Dirt E from Giant is a good choice. The Yamaha drive unit does a good job, but has some minor weaknesses in the details.
