The Rockmachine Torrent is one of four hardtail models in the Czech manufacturer's range and is primarily aimed at beginners. Compared to the rest of the test field, it is noticeable that the hardtail is only available in two frame heights. Although we chose the largest version in size L, the riding position is still very short and upright. In combination with the steep head angle, this results in a very short wheelbase.
On steep climbs, you have to actively put pressure on the front wheel, otherwise the MTB rears up early on. Downhill, the short geometry and narrow handlebars also quickly push the hardtail to its limits. The Rockmachine Torrent could do with more composure and confidence off-road. The 11-speed drivetrain with 463 per cent gear range and the Rockshox Judy TK Silver suspension fork are at the bottom of our comparison of 9 entry-level bikes.
In our overview article Hardtails from 1199 to 1799 euros: 9 sporty entry-level hardtails in the test you will find all the bikes tested.
Due to its short geometry and comparatively high weight, the Rockmaschine Torrent is neither a sports bike nor a downhill bike and therefore has a limited range of use.
