Commencal presents the new Meta HT 24 Power. The hardtail is aimed at young trail enthusiasts aged 7 to 8 years with a height between 125 and 140 centimetres. The kids should be able to keep up with their parents on demanding tours. With the new Meta HT 24 Power, the manufacturer has opted for a lightweight Bosch motor and a battery integrated into the frame in order to optimise the riding experience (you can find out what this means below) and at the same time keep the overall weight of the bike low. Only recently Commencal presented the new Meta - the hardtail from Andorra without a motor.
The centrepiece of the Commencal Meta HT 24 Power is the Bosch Performance Line SX motor. With a maximum torque of 55 Newton metres and a peak output of 600 watts, it should provide the necessary support for longer and more demanding rides. The motor has four support levels, which should enable young riders to effectively dose their effort depending on the terrain and obstacles. Commencal emphasises that the drive is particularly quiet and low-vibration, which should contribute to a more natural riding experience.
The Bosch battery with a capacity of 400 watt hours is seamlessly integrated into the down tube. This solution makes it possible to attach a bottle cage and a multi-tool directly to the frame. The range of the battery depends on various factors, in particular the weight of the rider and the selected support level. As a guideline, Commencal states that a child weighing 40 kilograms can cover a distance of around 50 kilometres in Tour+ mode. For a more precise estimate of the range, the manufacturer recommends using the Bosch Range Assistant.
The frame of the Commencal Meta HT 24 Power is made of aluminium, which is characterised by its low weight, high strength and good recyclability. The geometry is specially designed to meet the needs of young riders. With a reach of 380 millimetres and a steering angle of 67 degrees, the bike aims to offer comfort on the climbs as well as safety on the descents. The extended reach is designed to improve stability on descents in particular.
At the front is a Manitou Machete Junit Sport suspension fork with 150 millimetres of travel. It is specially designed for children's mountain bikes and adapted to the lower rider weight. The drivetrain is completed by a 10-speed Shimano Cues gear system, which is characterised by simple operation and a long service life. Reliable deceleration is provided by hydraulic disc brakes with brake levers designed for smaller hands.
Commencal has designed the Meta HT 24 Power with future upgrades in mind. The frame is equipped with a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) mount, which should ensure compatibility with various derailleurs. The e-bike is also prepared for retrofitting a Vario seat post, which should give advanced young riders additional control on technical sections.
