Canyon is expanding its e-bike portfolio with the new Grand Canyon:On. According to the manufacturer, the e-hardtail is suitable for both everyday use and easy trails. It is powered by a 5th generation Bosch Performance Line CX motor with up to 85 Newton metres of torque and 600 watts of peak power. It is the first e-bike that Canyon has equipped with the Bosch Performance Line CX, which was relaunched in autumn shows. Riders can choose between four support levels, which are controlled via a Purion display control unit.

Update compared to the Predecessor of the Canyon Grand Canyon:OnThe battery is integrated in the down tube, but can be easily and quickly removed in the new version. Previously, the battery was permanently installed in the down tube. Canyon offers capacities of 600 or 800 watt hours. A 250 watt hour range extender can be fitted as an option, increasing the total capacity to 1050 watt hours. The Grand Canyon has an aluminium frame that has been tested to Category 3 standards. According to Canyon, the total weight is less than 25 kilograms. The system weight limit is 130 kilograms.

Geometry and frame details
According to Canyon, the geometry of the Grand Canyon was designed for a mixture of agile trail performance and comfort in an urban environment. The steering angle is 68 degrees. A 120 millimetre suspension fork is designed to absorb bumps on trails and in the city. The bike rolls on 29-inch wheels with 2.6-inch wide tyres. Deceleration is provided by hydraulic disc brakes with 200 millimetre rotors at the front and 180 millimetre rotors at the rear. The handlebar measures 760 millimetres in width. Canyon offers the Grand Canyon in four frame sizes from S to XL, which should cover body sizes from 1.60 to 2.00 metres.

There are five attachment points on the frame for bottle cages or a range extender. Special feature: The additional battery and a water bottle can be attached to the bike at the same time. This does not work with many e-MTBs. The bike is also suitable for trailers and offers the option of mounting a stand. A skid plate made of carbon fibre-reinforced material is designed to protect the chainring and motor from damage. The rear derailleur is attached via a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), which makes the frame compatible with the latest generation of Sram derailleurs with Direct Mount.
