Rocky Mountain Altitude

Our first thought was, why change something if it works? Because for us, the Rocky Mountain Altitude was the model enduro bike par excellence. In the test in FREERIDE 1/22 we gave the bike 10 points. Celebrity tester Christian Textor enthused at the time: "The Rocky makes the freerider and racer in me happy." Now the Canadians are launching the successor model. Instead of a model update, they gave their enduro bike a completely new platform, including the LC2R rear triangle. In short: apart from the suspension travel, nothing is as it used to be. There are five models to choose from. In frame size S, the bike rolls on 27.5-inch wheels. Available in aluminium and carbon. From 5200 to 8400 € for the top model. In the next issue, we'll reveal whether the new Altitude is as stoked as its predecessor or whether it's an improvement for the worse. Buy it? bikes.com

Atherton S.170 Enduro

Those interested in technology will know: At Atherton Bikes, the carbon tubes are inserted and bonded into 3D-printed titanium sleeves. This construction method makes it possible to offer 22 different frame sizes per model. Now the Gravity siblings are offering an aluminium model for the first time. Production has remained the same, only the 3D-printed titanium sleeves have had to make way for aluminium sleeves. Gluing instead of welding - despite the aluminium. Instead of 22 frame sizes, there are 12: with reach values from 405 to 515 millimetres. The chainstays grow from 430 to 440 millimetres, depending on the size. In terms of price, the bikes are now more affordable and are available from 4679 euros. Downhill approval and a lifetime guarantee for the first owner speak for durability. Fox Grip X2 & Grip X cartridges (2025)

The US label is giving its forks a new inner life. Three new cartridges are to be installed in almost all forks: The Grip X2 and Grip X are interesting for gravity bikers from the Fox 36 upwards. Compared to the Grip 2, the Grip X2 should have improved adjustability and cover a larger damping range. Fox also promises more comfort and traction. We will soon be testing whether this is just marketing blah-blah or whether the cartridge is actually much better. foxracingshox.com

Saddle: SQ Lab 60X Hans Rey Edition

Who has been in the saddle longer than Hans Rey? We can't think of anyone. Together with his long-standing sponsor from Upper Bavaria, Hans has given the tried and tested 60X model his signature design. Available widths: 13, 14, 15, 16 cm. Price 199.95 euros. sqlab.com

Bluegrass Jetro

Almost every helmet sponsor now has one of these trendy helmets in its programme. Whether IXS, Alpina, Giro or Fox. Jet helmets are more popular than ever. They provide more protection than a standard open-face helmet and also cover the side of the head and jaw. However, they do not have a chin bar at the front and are therefore more suitable for trail riding than for baller DH use. The stylish Bluegrass Jetro is equipped with mips, the Fidlock quick-release fastener and a sophisticated ventilation system. Available in the stylish Black Fire design or in beige and black. Weight: 595 grams (M) according to the manufacturer. Price: 250 euros. met-helmets.com

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
