Small detail, big effect: Propain tunes the shim stacks. The result: a cream rear end.

The Propain Rage Mullet immediately became the testers' favourite on the test track. Top-notch equipment, great feeling of safety, easy on steep descents. A well-deserved test victory!

The Propain not only gave our celebrity tester an aha effect, but us too! But first things first. In 2021, the Allgäu-based mail-order company has relaunched its Rage. As usual with Propain, customers can put together their own dream bike with a large selection of add-on parts and decorative colours. Propain sent the top model with Mullet tyres into the race. Despite its sophisticated equipment with Fox Factory suspension, the Rage is the cheapest bike in the test and costs less than half the price of the Mondraker.

The bike quickly became a test favourite on our downhill test track. Together with the Mondraker, it provided the most safety and traction and fluttered unimpressed even through panic sections. The Rage remains as composed as a Shaolin master during a bully attack. Bombed-out steep descents? Easy! Root massacre? No problem. Killer stunts? Please, gladly! In comparison, the test competitors Canyon, Transition and Cube seemed like small calibres.

Crazy, because in the last duel (against the Trek Session, FREERIDE 3/21) we criticised the rear suspension of the Rage and demanded more comfort. Obviously, the Propainies have done their job and adjusted the shock tuning - with success. On the 99 Jumps trail, the Rage couldn't quite keep up with the park specialists in terms of handling, but it came very close.

Conclusion on the Propain Rage Mullet:

The Propain Rage is fast, safe and provides plenty of grip. And for a comparatively fair price - great! The bike also cuts a fine figure on park tracks with jumps. Test victory!

Stefan Garlicki (height: 1.84 m):

The Propain leaves the test competition behind when things get fast and rough. Then the rear end develops massive traction and allows a lot of speed. In comparison, the Cube, Canyon and Transition look like stiff bikes.

For a little less money:

Thanks to the online configurator, the consignor from the Allgäu leaves nothing to be desired. You can specify the bike yourself with components on the website. The cheapest model costs 3999 euros. Currently only available in carbon.
