World Cup-standard kit for everyone

With the launch of the new Canyon Lux World Cup CFR, the Koblenz-based company is likely to have given a few of its competitors quite a shock. Thanks to direct sales and a streamlined production process, this new generation of cross-country race bikes remains significantly cheaper than the racing equipment offered by other manufacturers. Nevertheless, the Lux World Cup has been upgraded to meet current XC standards. It features 120 or 110 millimetres of suspension travel, a carbon frame that is significantly lighter than its predecessor, and modern geometry centred around a 66-degree head angle. The Flex-Pivot rear triangle incorporates a flip chip to adjust the kinematics’ anti-squat values to different chainring sizes.

With the RockShox Flight Attendant suspension system, Canyon has equipped the Lux World Cup CFR Ltd with an electronically controlled automatic suspension system. The system communicates via wireless components on the fork, shock, dropper post, rear derailleur and a power metre in the crankset. This enables it to detect how much power the rider is currently applying to propulsion and to lock the suspension fully automatically accordingly, ensuring no energy is wasted. When encountering uneven terrain, the compression damping switches to Pedal or Open Mode to make the full travel available when needed. If desired, the system also learns and adapts to the rider’s form on the day. In the Cross Country World Cup, the RockShox Flight Attendant has become virtually indispensable. The e-suspension is now also available on the new Lux Race full-suspension bike.

Cross-country racing like the pros

Naturally, the rest of the spec on the Canyon Lux World Cup CFR Ltd is also worthy of a cross-country rider. The wheelset is from DT Swiss and features carbon rims and fast tyres from Schwalbe. The handlebar-stem assembly and even the linkage of the Ergon saddle are also made from lightweight carbon. Gear changes are handled by SRAM’s X0 Eagle AXS drivetrain, whilst braking is provided by SRAM Motive Silver four-piston brakes. In true replica style, the Canyon Lux World Cup CFR Ltd boasts the same hand-applied special paint finish as the team bikes ridden by professional athletes Luca Schwarzbauer and Thibaut Francois-Baudry.
