Cube Nuroad C:62 EX review: A speed demon with plenty in reserve

Plenty of features for 2,999 euros

It’s no coincidence that Cube is one of the most popular bike brands. The Waldershofen-based company combines mail-order prices with the excellent service of specialist retailers – Cube shops can be found all over the country. So it’s no wonder that the Nuroad gravel bike, model year 2026, sold out in no time. That’s why Cube is already the 2027 model onto the market – and that’s the one we were given to test.

​Carbon wheels make all the difference

The Nuroad is available in aluminium and carbon versions, identifiable by the designation C:62. Even the Entry-level model C:62 One for 1,999 euros is fitted with carbon wheels. These have a noticeable positive effect on our test bike and give the C:62 EX lively acceleration. Incidentally, the Cube is the only bike in the test line-up with carbon wheels. In fact, the spec is surprisingly generous given the price. It ranges from the electronic Di2 gear system to the 4iiii power metre. In total, Cube offers seven variants of the C:62 – from the entry-level model mentioned above to the lightweight Race-Graveller SLT (7.8 kg) for 5,999 euros. Our test bike comes with a top-tube bag as standard, but can also be upgraded to a fully-equipped adventure bike: with three bottle cages, luggage racks, mudguards and much more.

​Road bike speed meets mountain bike gear ratio

Weighing in at 8,750 grams, the Cube is the lightest bike in the test line-up. It saves weight where it’s felt most: on the wheels. Every gram counts double here. The result: alongside the Radon, the Cube is one of the sprint stars in the test line-up. Whilst you might be cruising leisurely through the countryside on other bikes, you’ll be happy to put the Cube through its paces and power up the climb out of the saddle. The ‘mountain bike’ cassette, with 10 to 51 teeth, helps you tackle even steep climbs without the veins in your temples bulging. Cube describes its C:62 as a ‘road bike with mountain bike skills’. This impression is further reinforced in the 2027 model, as it is fitted with Schwalbe G-One tyres, 50 millimetres wide. Not only do they make the Cube particularly well-suited to off-road riding, but they also ensure exceptionally easy-going handling. Whereas on other test bikes you have to concentrate intensely to navigate tricky bends, with the Cube you can confidently throw it into the turn – easy! Off-road, the Cube ranks amongst the frontrunners alongside the Propain. A nice touch: a chain guide keeps the drivetrain in check when the trail dishing out particularly hard bumps.

Test winner – is it justified?

The lab score speaks for itself: 1.9. Cube has clearly got a lot right here. Plenty of carbon, electronic gear changes, balanced geometry – there’s little to complain about. The only things we noticed were the handlebars with little flare and the saddle with a raised rear – not all testers were keen on this. But ultimately, that’s a matter of taste. The fact remains: if you’re looking to spend around 3,000 euros on a gravel bike, the Cube Nuroad C:62 EX is hard to beat.

Very stylish! The frame, the spec, the ‘Surf ’n Blue’ paint finish – Cube have certainly got a lot right here. I felt safe on the bike with its wide tyres and was surprised at how nimbly it accelerates.
