Bicycle XXL and the Used e-bike specialist Upway are launching a nationwide trade-in programme for e-bikes. From now on, customers can trade in their used e-bike directly on site in all 18 Fahrrad XXL shops. The value determined can be offset against the purchase of a new e-bike. The trade-in used vehicles are then reconditioned by Upway and resold via their online platform.
According to the company, the trade-in process is designed to be customer-friendly. Interested parties bring their used e-bike to a Fahrrad XXL shop, where it is checked and valued using a special Upway calculator. The offer price determined in this way can be offset directly against the purchase of a new e-bike. An online calculator is available on the Fahrrad XXL website for an initial non-binding valuation. Here, customers can enter the basic data of their e-bike and receive a daily estimate.
After the trade-in, Upway takes over the further processing of the used e-bikes. The vehicles are thoroughly inspected, repaired and technically refurbished in workshops in Berlin, Düsseldorf and other locations.
The refurbished e-bikes are then sold via the Upway website. According to Upway, the carefully checked and refurbished e-bikes are up to 60 per cent cheaper than comparable new vehicles. They also offer full quality and reliability. Upway also offers a one-year guarantee on the frame, battery, motor and electronics.
Toussaint Wattinne, co-founder and CEO of Upway, explains the motivation behind the partnership:
"Our goal is to give as many people as possible access to sustainable electromobility. We are always on the lookout for strategic partners who want to realise this goal with us. We are therefore delighted to have found a strong partner in Fahrrad XXL to expand access to a reliable e-bike secondary market throughout Germany."
Alexander Schäfer, Managing Director of Fahrrad XXL, sees the co-operation as a strategic step towards improving customer service:
"We are always looking for ways to offer the best possible service. The cooperation with Upway is a strategic step that enables us to do just that. The partnership offers our customers enormous convenience when trading in their old e-bike and at the same time strengthens our position as an attractive point of contact for e-bike purchases."
To publicise the new trade-in offer, Fahrrad XXL is launching a national advertising campaign under the motto "Old for new". The campaign will be advertised via various channels, including out-of-home advertising, radio, print, brochures and Fahrrad XXL's own digital platforms. The aim is to make as many e-bike owners as possible aware of the new offer and to emphasise the benefits of the trade-in. >> to the offer.
