The bicycle manufacturer Canyon has opened a new E-Performance Centre at its headquarters in Koblenz. The 1,200-square-metre facility is dedicated exclusively to e-bikes and complements the company’s direct-sales model with a brick-and-mortar offering.
Canyon is expanding its retail presence: in addition to its existing shops in Munich, Carlsbad (USA) and its original shop in Koblenz, the company has now opened its first outlet dedicated entirely to e-bikes. The E-Performance Centre on the Canyon Campus is aimed primarily at customers from the Rhine, Moselle, Westerwald, Eifel and Hunsrück regions.
Unlike a traditional showroom, the centre offers the opportunity to go on extensive test rides. An outdoor test track starts right next to the building, with two route options: a 75-metre-long, flat circuit and a 90-metre-long route with a 12 per cent gradient. Visitors can try out various e-bike models fitted with motor systems from Bosch, Shimano and TQ without needing to book an appointment in advance.
“Canyon was founded in Koblenz, and everything we develop and build starts here,” explains company founder Roman Arnold. The new centre is the next step in defining what the e-bike category should feel like.
Canyon continues to rely on its direct-to-consumer model. As there is no retailer’s mark-up, prices at the E-Performance Centre range from under 3,000 euros for entry-level models to around 7,000 euros for premium e-road bikes and e-mountain bikes. All models on display are in stock and can be taken away on the same day – either in a box or fully assembled. Financing and leasing options are also available.
Advice is provided by specialist staff who, according to the company itself, are keen cyclists. They help customers choose the right model and are also available as points of contact for maintenance and servicing in the long term.
The E-Performance Centre is part of the Canyon Campus, which is also home to the regular Canyon Store selling non-electric bikes, offering servicing and housing a café. Visitors can explore the manufacturer’s entire range there.
The centre at Karl-Tesche-Straße 14 is open Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 18.30 and on Saturdays from 09.00 to 17.00. The centre is situated near Koblenz railway station and has 90 free parking spaces.
