Deuter's Compact comes very close to being the perfect touring rucksack: despite maximum equipment, the Deuter remains extremely clearly structured. All compartments are easily accessible. The back system can be perfectly adjusted, is extremely stable on the descent thanks to the hip wings set far inwards and also ventilates well. There is space for a mobile phone, hydration bladder and tools in extra compartments. On top of this, the Augsburg-based company has provided helmet and goggle holders as well as protective straps. The volume can also be expanded. The Compact EXP 14 from Deuter currently costs 84 euros instead of 110 euros at Rosebikes *.Photo: Hersteller Deuter's Compact comes very close to being the perfect touring rucksack: despite maximum equipment, the Deuter remains extremely clearly structured. If the spare inner tube has already been used up on a long tour, the only thing that helps is a patch. The Park Tool puncture repair kit is available from Rosebikes for 4 euros instead of 7 euros *.Photo: Hersteller If the spare inner tube has already been used up on a long tour, the only thing that helps is a patch. With a volume of six litres, the Seral 7 is almost the size of a rucksack - but it is surprisingly comfortable to wear and sits securely even on the descent. However, the hip pack should not be overloaded, otherwise comfort will suffer. Despite the hydration bladder, there is room for a full set of touring equipment. However, a few more compartments would provide a better overview. The large compartments on the wings are easy to reach and the hydration tube is securely attached to the magnetic clip. Knee pads or a windbreaker can be attached to the compression straps. Top workmanship. The Seral 7 hip bag from Osprey currently costs 59 euros instead of 84 euros *.Photo: Hersteller With a volume of six litres, the Seral 7 is almost the size of a rucksack - but it is surprisingly comfortable to wear and sits securely even on the descent. At just 180 grams, the Adventure Hammock is perhaps the lightest king-size hammock in the world. Nevertheless, two people can easily snuggle up in it as the sun sets - as long as they do not exceed the weight limit of 150 kilos. Crumpled up, the mat fits in any trouser pocket. The Adventure hammock from Amazonas is available from Sport-schuster for 54 euros *.Photo: Hersteller At just 180 grams, the Adventure Hammock is perhaps the lightest king-size hammock in the world. Vaudes Trailsaddle consists of a sturdy holster and a waterproof welded pack sack. The holster is quickly and securely fastened using a system of two straps and two buckles. However, two points immediately catch the eye: the wide plastic straps significantly reduce the lowering height of the seat post and there is no valve on the pack sack. It inflates like a balloon when loaded if you don't squeeze the air out first - a bit awkward. On the other hand, the inside is pleasantly light-coloured, which helps when sorting the contents. For a bag of this size, the Trailsaddle is surprisingly stable under the saddle. Although the lashing straps are a little rough, they are held firmly in place by an additional clip. Equipment loops are attached to the top of the holster for attaching accessories such as a rear light or rain gear. However, classic elasticated straps are more suitable for the latter, as no additional fastening material is required. As is typical of Vaude, the pack sack is made from PVC-free tarpaulin material, the entire bag is climate-neutral and environmentally friendly and, from this point of view, really good value for money. The Vaude Trailsaddle II saddle bag is currently on offer at Rosebikes for 92 euros *.Photo: Hersteller Vaudes Trailsaddle consists of a sturdy holster and a waterproof welded pack sack. When the first ELEMNT Bolt was launched in 2017, it quickly made many friends with its good button operation and clear menu navigation. The second generation of the Bolt is also easy to understand. The buttons are easy to use and self-explanatory. The colour display is new. It is beautifully sharp and hardly reflective. Synchronisation with training and planning apps is easy via the Wahoo Cycling app. Downloaded tracks can be transferred to the app and from there to the device with just a few clicks. But beware: the storage space is small! Thanks to the clear map, you won't miss any turn-offs in navigation mode. If you do leave the route, you will be guided back the quickest way. Turn-by-turn instructions and training data can be displayed via an LED bar. This is accompanied by loud beeps in the standard setting. The ELEMNT Bolt 2.0 from Wahoo is currently available from Alltricks for 269 instead of 300 euros *.Photo: Hersteller When the first ELEMNT Bolt was launched in 2017, it quickly made many friends with its good button operation and clear menu navigation. Despite the level 2 protector, the weight is kept within limits. With the combination of movable shoulder straps, powerful hip wings and the tried-and-tested stretch belt, it literally hugs the wearer on the descent and sits extremely securely. Wide-opening compartments provide a perfect overview of the contents, and the voluminous hip pockets can even hold a smartphone. Only the moderate ventilation, the handling of the hydration bladder and the high price give cause for some criticism. The Trail Pro 16 protector backpack from Evoc currently costs 189 euros instead of 209 euros at Rosebikes *.Photo: Hersteller The new Trail Pro is the ideal choice for extended enduro tours. One of four new Continental MTB tyres is the Kryptotal: in special versions for front and rear wheels, the all-rounder in the portfolio offers a good mix of grip, cornering stability, self-cleaning and rolling resistance. We have already covered a few trail kilometres on the all-rounder from the new model range with trail casing and endurance compound. The first impression: even the lightest version is not lacking in puncture resistance. The cornering control is impressive thanks to the massive outer lugs. On long tours with a high proportion of gravel, however, even the lightest version rolls sluggishly. MTB tyres Kryptotal from Continental are available from Maciag Offroad for 56 euros instead of 64 euros *.Photo: Hersteller One of four new Continental MTB tyres is the Kryptotal: in special versions for front and rear wheels, the all-rounder in the portfolio offers a good mix of grip, cornering stability, self-cleaning and rolling resistance. A long sock straps the Transition to the knee to prevent slipping. The stretchy material is airy and comfortable over long distances. Only the tight cuffs can cut in a little - other manufacturers do this better. The large Sas-Tec protector even fulfils the higher protection level and fits neatly over the kneecap. In the event of a fall, however, the sock does not hold the protector securely in place, so it can slip. The protector can be removed and the sock can be machine washed.
