The Bluegrass Rogue Core MIPS already impressed us in our previous test. Our comparison reveals whether the trail and enduro helmet can still keep up with the competition.

On closer inspection, it quickly becomes clear that Met Revo and Bluegrass come from the same company. The two helmets share a headband with silicone padding and adjustable straps with a Fidlock magnetic fastener. In terms of cut, however, the helmets go their own ways: the Bluegrass is more suitable for round heads, while the Met is significantly narrower.

Good adjustment, wide fit

The equipment is also a good Bluegrass Rogue Core slight compromises. The height adjustment of the head ring is a little more complicated and the visor lacks a ratchet. The more favourable MIPS Essential is used as the rotation system. Magnetic buckle, customisable ear dividers, goggle-compatible shape and an opening for pigtails are, however, successful details.

As soon as you put it on, it becomes clear that the Bluegrass Rogue is not the right choice for narrow faces, as the helmet is wide and quite bulky. There is also light and shade in terms of adjustment. Although the magnetic buckle can be closed intuitively, adjusting the height using the press studs is very fiddly as the holes are hidden under the MIPS shell.

Although the dial is easy to reach in all positions, it hangs especially when opening. The straps, on the other hand, are easy to adjust - even under the ears - and run reasonably close to the head. If you push the gridless, slightly wobbly visor upwards, a goggle can be easily placed on the helmet. Sunglasses also fit well in the front ventilation slots and can be safely transported there.

Bluegrass Rogue Core Mips in the lab

The Bluegrass Rogue Core is particularly good at absorbing linear impacts and sets a best value with a residual force of 79.3 g. The simple MIPS system also delivers good, albeit not outstanding, values. In terms of protection, the Bluegrass is definitely worth a recommendation.

The Bluegrass Rogue Core also impressed us with its ventilation. Large openings and deep channels let a lot of air through and prevent you from sweating unnecessarily on long climbs.

Evaluation and conclusion

In the laboratory and in terms of ventilation, the Bluegrass delivers an absolutely convincing performance: Stefan FreyIn the laboratory and in terms of ventilation, the Bluegrass delivers an absolutely convincing performance: Stefan Frey

The Bluegrass Rogue Core really shines in the lab and is way ahead in terms of impact and rotation protection. This shows that even the cheapest version of MIPS can work well. Ventilation is also excellent. Although the Rogue has a very round cut, the circumferential headband also secures oval heads well. Comfortable silicone neck support and reasonable weight. The visor adjustment is not rasterised, the dial is very stiff. Height adjustment only via push buttons.
