The Stevens E-Inception AM goes as a Defending champion in the all-mountain comparison test in EMTB 01/2022. And it shows once again that it is a force to be reckoned with in the all-mountain league. You won't find any absolute best values - but the E-MTB from Hamburg simply has hardly any weaknesses.
The equipment is absolutely top: XTR gears, Fox Factory suspension, carbon wheels and handlebars. No other bike rolls onto the test track so elegantly. Paired with the full carbon frame, the e-bike weighs in at 23 kilos, which is well below average - despite the high-capacity 726 batteries.
The balanced overall picture continues on the trail. The modern geometry ensures plenty of safety and riding stability off-road. At the wheel of this bike, you don't have to shy away from enduro descents either, albeit with the handbrake pulled a little. Thanks to the lightweight wheels and low overall weight, the E-Inception is still one of the more manoeuvrable and playful candidates in the comparison.
The suspension is comfortable. On the trail and on the descent, all testers praised the harmonious handling. Less experienced riders will get their money's worth here, as will experienced trail bikers. However, full-throttle enduro riders will find more suitable candidates in the test field.
And the Stevens doesn't disappoint on the climbs either. You only have to contend with a rising front wheel when things get really steep. And then the central position helps to keep the bike under control. The comfortable rear suspension and grippy rear tyre provide plenty of traction. One point of criticism: the background noise on the E-Inception is comparatively loud.
The Stevens E-Inception AM is a strong all-rounder that is just as convincing on moderate e-bike tours as it is on racy trail use. Also uncomplicated uphill. Top equipment, fair price, good range. Test winner on points.

You can download the complete comparison test of the eight all-mountain bikes from EMTB 01/2022 as a PDF below the article. The test costs 2.99 euros. Why not for free? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the tests in EMTB. We don't pay for them, but the opposite is the case: we charge for them - hundreds of thousands of euros every year.
¹The reach height was determined during standardised test rides on an asphalt climb with a gradient of 12.2 percent. Highest support level, 150 watts pedalling power of the rider, rider weight including equipment 90 kg. The altitude metres in clearly reduced emergency mode are shown in brackets. The average speed refers to the journey with full assistance.
²Determined on the test benches in the EMTB test lab, weight without pedals, battery weight incl. screwed-on cover where applicable.
