The latest all-mountain bike from Giant contains several firsts. The Trance X E+ Advanced is the Taiwanese company's first carbon e-MTB.

It is also the first production e-MTB with the latest version of Fox's electronic Live Valve suspension. This smart little helper automatically switches between an open and a damped (platform) suspension setting. And it does so within fractions of a second. In fact, this system leaves its mark on the bike. The Trance sprints off directly and lively. However, it also feels firmer and less comfortable than the competition. It gives the feeling that there is less suspension travel available. On rough and steep descents, the bike ranked lower in the favour of the testers, and the very low front end reinforces this feeling. On the other hand, this has a positive effect on flat, shallow and winding trails.

Conclusion on the Giant Trance X E+ Advanced Pro 0

Lively and sporty trail and touring bike for fast rides in moderate terrain. Strong climber. On rough descents, the low front end and firm suspension make for a safe ride.

Florentin Vesenbeckh has been on a mountain bike since he was ten years old. Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach. Professionally, the experienced test editor now focusses on e-mountainbikes. In recent years, the qualified sports scientist and trained journalist has tested over 300 bikes and more than 40 different motor systems in the laboratory and in practice.
