If you're looking for mainstream, you won't find it at Kreidler. The Straight 2.0 is exceptional in every respect. The product managers have put together a surprising bike here.

Let's get started: The test bike with a 47 mm frame is the largest available. It has a long, sporty seat and the cockpit could also adorn a marathon bike. The steep seat angle and the Magura eLECT fork with the wireless lockout on the handlebars would suit this area of use well. Unfortunately, this function is not available for the shock, which has to be neutralised manually on the climbs. Bike and chassis
(4.1 kilos) are heavy. Kreidler takes the decision between a bottle or a hydration pack off your hands - because there are no threads for a bottle cage. Despite the sporty position, the weight slows you down on the climbs, the 34/42 gearing is tight and the tyres are not among the sprinters. Downhill, however, the Hans Dampf tyres make up for it. They provide security at the limit that the suspension does not offer.

ConclusionVery unusual touring bike. Despite - or because of - its exceptional equipment, the Straight has some functional weaknesses.

The alternative: With its double drivetrain (20 gears), the Straight 1.0 model is somewhat more broadly based than the top model. For 2799 euros, you get Magura suspension elements, a telescopic seat post and Mavic wheels.
