At first glance, the Giant Trance gives little indication of its favourable price. The frame corresponds to the more expensive models and the Taiwanese are the only ones in this test group to use a tried and tested Rock Shox Reba SL fork, a very good choice. The Maestro rear suspension system works neutrally and very effectively. On the suspension side, the Trance plays in a higher league. During the tour you don't notice that you're sitting on a 1599 euro bike, apart from the weak brakes (small rear disc) the handling is on a high level. The Trance is more of a long-distance bomber, not a manoeuvrable singletrail acrobat.
CONCLUSIONGiant is the best bike in the test group on points. A successful tourer with superior riding characteristics.
TUNING TIP: fit straight seat post, replace saddle.
