BIKE tester Tim Folchert has already ridden a full 2500 kilometres on his Radon Jab Mx 9.0. The bike has also completed one or two enduro races. This is Tim's interim assessment of his Radon Jab.

After more than 2500 kilometres in the saddle, it's time for a detailed review of the Radon Jab MX 9.0. The bike already makes a strong first impression when it's on sale for € 2799: the full carbon frame has a high-quality finish and performs absolutely confidently even in tough enduro use. The balanced geometry offers a successful mix of agility and smoothness - ideal for versatile trail adventures and therefore my area of use.

Especially the Chassis The suspension fork offers an excellent balance between sensitivity and support. The Jab MX 9.0 also looks good - I like the simple black frame colour.

The proven Horst-Link rear suspension delivers plenty of pop, allowing the bike to actively pull away from roots and edges. However, due to the smaller rear wheel and the rather stiff rear suspension, it loses some comfort on very rough terrain. I would be interested to see how the bike would fare in a direct comparison as an ALL-29 version.

When cornering, the bike is pleasantly playful and reliably supports the rider even on tight, technical trails. Uphill, the round bike cranks 14.5 kilos (without pedals) lightweight bike thanks to the moderate geometry and the efficient SRAM GX drivetrain.

Long-term experience

After an intensive 2500 kilometres, including many demanding trail sections, the Jab MX 9.0 is extremely robust overall. The list of defects is pleasingly short: only the wheels had to be re-centred after around 1600 km. The Magura MT5 brakes convince with strong, easily controllable braking power.

The Drive mix consisting of GX rear derailleur and cassette as well as NX trigger is functional and reliable - a sensible saving has been made here. Less positive was the Bottom bracket which had to be replaced after just 1000 kilometres.

Otherwise, the bike is generally easy to care for and low-maintenance. The maintenance flap ("boot") in the bottom bracket area is particularly practical - initial doubts about the delicate twist lock have disappeared in long-term use.

Conclusion from tester Tim Folchert

The Radon Jab MX 9.0 is a powerful and well thought-out enduro bike with an excellent price-performance ratio. For 2799 euros, you get a well-equipped, robust and fun bike that impresses both downhill and uphill. A clear tip for price-conscious trail fans!
