E-MTBs weigh more and more. Weights of over 25 kilograms are now the rule rather than the exception, and that's no wonder: after all, the batteries are getting bigger and bigger. The lightest e-mountainbike we have ever tested with Bosch's 750 Powertube and Smart System still weighed 24.3 kilograms.
Is it even possible to build really lightweight bikes without sacrificing range? It is possible, as Bulls shows with the Sonic-SL models such as the Sonic Evo AM-SL 1. Despite a whopping 750 watt hours in the battery, the Bulls weighs just 21.5 kilos (EMTB measured value). Even more surprising: at 5199 euros, it is also relatively inexpensive. Bulls combines the opposites of high battery capacity, low weight and a good price in an inimitable way. It is therefore hardly surprising that our readers voted it E-Touring Bike of the Year.
Bulls Sonic Evo AM-SL1 is clearly ahead of the second strongest candidate with over 35 per cent of the votes cast, the Centurion R2700i/2600i EQ. The latter was particularly convincing with its robust equipment, the high permissible total weight of 150 kilograms and its high suitability for everyday use. The abbreviation EQ stands for Equipped - the Centurion is already equipped with mudguards and pannier rack for everyday use. Thanks to its grippy tyres and 140 millimetres of suspension travel, it should also be able to impress on the trail. Haibikes AllTrail 9 29 came third in the readers' poll with 19 per cent of the vote.
Bull's newly crowned E-Touring Bike of the Year 2022 was presented to us in Already testing EMTB 5/2021. There is also a downhill-orientated model. The Bulls Sonic Evo with the abbreviation EN-SL costs at least € 5999. You can read about how Bulls' superlight EN-SL 1 construction for 6999 euros compares with the most exciting E-Enduros up to 7000 euros in EMTB 4/2022 - available now from specialist dealers, Digital and in the Online shop.
