Do you know Aventon? The US label actually specialises in city bikes - now they are presenting their first E-Fully, the Current. The E-All-Mountain offers 140 mm suspension travel at the rear and 150 mm at the front and will be available in three equipment variants.

With the Current, the Californian brand Aventon is launching its first full-suspension e-mountainbike platform. The suspension has 140 mm of travel at the rear and 150 mm at the front - a classic E-AllMountain. The brand wants to offer a lot of bike for the money with an aggressive pricing policy and, above all, stand out with its software.

The centrepiece of the bike is the new Ultro X mid-motor: 110 Nm torque, 750 watts peak power - and in boost mode it even sprints to 120 Nm at 850 watts. Small, light (2.85 kg) and waterproof to IP67. If you want, you can fine-tune the bike via five support levels: Auto, Eco, Trail, Turbo and Boost - all conveniently via the Aventon app thanks to Ride Tune. The 800 Wh battery offers a range of up to 168 kilometres and the battery can be removed from the bottom. For everyday use, Aventon offers the Current REC with the somewhat tamer Ultro S+ motor (100 Nm) and a classic everyday set-up: Mudguards, pannier rack, lights - basically an E-MTB that's also suitable for the supermarket.

High-tech for trail adventures: Aventon Control Unit

The bike's dashboard is called the Aventon Control Unit (ACU) and is more than just a simple display: touchscreen, 4G and Bluetooth, OTA updates - all included. There are clever trail functions for adrenaline junkies:

  • Wheel-Lift-Control prevents the front wheel from lifting off on steep climbs.
  • Jump Tracking automatically records jumps and airtime.
  • GPS tracking plus permanently installed rear wheel lock = less worry about theft.

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
