For a long time, the German mail-order company Rose didn't have an E-Fully in its programme. With the Root Miller+, the Bocholt-based company now presents a classic all-rounder for touring and trail riding. The absolute highlight in this price range is the stylish and lightweight full carbon frame. The workmanship is top-notch and the detailed solutions are impressive.
At 22.9 kilos, the weight of the bike is Comparison of six E-Fullys up to 5500 euros top of the range. This is also noticeable in the saddle of the Root Miller, as the bike rides directly and lively. Despite the rather compact dimensions of the frame, the riding position is rather stretched due to the long stem and very wide handlebars. The suspension is also sporty. It is high in its suspension travel and gives the bike a firm character. If you are looking for maximum comfort, you are in the wrong place.
On climbs, the rear end keeps the rider in a good position on the bike. The Root Miller climbs easily despite its short chainstays. When trail surfing, the suspension shows more shadow than light. The firm character encourages lively handling, and thanks to the compact geometry, the bike is manoeuvrable and easy to get airborne. However, we would have liked more sensitive rear suspension on root and rock gardens. On rough descents, the Root Miller 1+ is not as plush and composed as the competition, and the short wheelbase and high bottom bracket don't provide much riding confidence. The weakly profiled, moderately damping tyres also make us cautious on downhills. The previous version of the Bosch Performance CX delivers top performance, but is not compatible with the components of Bosch's Smart System.
Lightweight E-Fully with a high-quality frame, stylish details and lively handling. The suspension is too stiff for demanding trails and some equipment details prevent better judgements. - Florentin Vesenbeckh, Test Manager EMTB
