Biggest battery, best range by far - and still the lightest bike in the test. With its new Spectral:On CF, Canyon has achieved a balancing act that seemed impossible for a long time.

With the Canyon Spectral:On CF 7, the Koblenz-based company achieves this primarily through a high-quality carbon frame and specially developed battery. But it's not just the weight that's impressive. In the practical test, the all-mountain bike turned out to be the most manoeuvrable and fun trail raider in the test field - and with a huge 900 watt-hour battery! No matter who took a seat on the bike, camp participants or professional testers, the grins were huge after the ride. With its long reach and high front end, the bike is one of the most spacious candidates in the test field. It is particularly brilliant for touring and trail use.

When the terrain becomes extreme, the gap to the competition melts away. On nasty, steep climbs, the Canyon Spectral Its short chainstays make for a slightly more active riding style. However, the control is excellent, as the rider is positioned far forward thanks to the steep seat angle and the suspension is very active. However, the low bottom bracket caused the cranks to bob a little on rough climbs. When it comes to descents, you immediately feel comfortable on the bike, but it swallows nasty steep descents well, thanks to the mature reach and good suspension. However, the Canyon is not a stoic downhill beast. Good: If you don't need 900 watt hours, go for the 720 battery and save 300 euros and 900 grams of weight. Too bad: The Canyon is not a quiet bike either, it rattles on the trail.

Removing the battery is not as convenient as the classic folding mechanism. Conclusion by Florentin Vesenbeckh, deputy editor-in-chief of EMTB:

The new Canyon Spectral:On CF also impresses in its most affordable version: mega range, decent weight, balanced riding characteristics. Sporty top all-rounder at a fair price. Test victory!
