After more than a decade with GT, Wyn Masters is starting a new chapter in his career: the New Zealand mountain biker is now part of the Focus Bikes team. Known for his infectious energy - both on and off the bike - Wyn is heavily involved in the MTB community and supports young talent with his Privateer Project. Now he rides with Focus, together with his long-time friends Ben Deakin and Olly Wilkins. The trio is ready for new adventures, exciting content and unforgettable trail moments.
I'm delighted to be part of the Focus family now. The decision was easy for me after getting to know the team and sitting on the bike with the people behind the brand. And then to be on the same team as my good friends Olly Wilkins and Ben 'The Deakinator' Deakin - it just fits. I'm excited about what's to come - and I'm already loving my new Sam², the most aggressive e-bike I've ever ridden! - Wyn Masters
I couldn't be happier that Wyn is now on board. He's been one of the fastest riders in the world for over a decade - and is also one of the most authentic characters in mountain biking. - Olly Wilkins
I'm really pleased that the one and only Mr Wheelie Wednesday is now part of our team! - Ben Deakin
Wyn started racing at the age of just 11 - and quickly made a name for himself: he won both the U17 and U19 championship titles in New Zealand. In 2017, he then celebrated a special moment: victory at the EWS stop in Rotorua - in front of a home crowd.
Wyn was a permanent fixture in the UCI World Cup for over ten years. He regularly finished in the top ten in both enduro and downhill and was recognised for his consistent, stylish riding style. He also secured the New Zealand downhill championship title during this time.
With WynTV, he launched his own interview and recap series - and became the unmistakable voice of the scene. At the same time, he launched the Privateer Project to help privately financed riders enter the World Cup.
Whether through his dry humour, his positive charisma or the legendary Wheelie Wednesday-Posts - Wyn is one of the most charismatic and entertaining characters in the MTB world.
At the Singletrack Reader Awards, Wyn 2024 was named the MTB Personality of the Year This is an honour for his commitment, his willingness to help others and the incomparable energy he radiates on and off the bike.
