Season start on 10.3.2026 - Six short films about cycling are on the programme.
Gravel, tarmac and plenty of pedal power - the Bike Film Tour Season 2 is about to kick off! Whether in the wild peloton or solo against the wind: cycling can be anything - and the six new films of the Bike Film Tour 2026 show almost all of it - one of them exclusively MTB action.

The Bike Film Tour Season 2 film celebrates the almost forgotten Tour de France athletes of the 1980s and meets everyday heroes with charisma in abundance. Like the Düsseldorf bike courier Albert Rabaev or the teacher and flatland BMXer Mr Omari Cato, who lets the next generation in on the secrets of his tricks. There's also bikepacking in Japan, urban cyclocrossing in lost places and the only MTB trail - Kilian Bron in Nepal.

All films are shown in the original version with subtitles in the respective national language - so no word or joke is lost. The actual film programme lasts around 120 minutes, interrupted by a break of around 30 minutes to take a deep breath, chat or grab a snack. With the supporting programme, moderation and competition, you should plan a total of 2.5 to 3 hours - enough time for inspiration, laughter and plenty of bike vibes.

Mr Cato - The breakdancer on two wheels

For some students, he is simply "the teacher". For everyone else? A magician on two wheels. Mr Omari Cato not only juggles with classrooms, but also with his BMX - and at a world-class level. Flatland BMX, his discipline, is basically breakdancing on two wheels: Tricks, spins, elegant moves - and all without ramps or rails. All it takes is a smooth surface and Cato transforms it into his stage.

Unfortunately, however, fewer and fewer kids are enthusiastic about this "bike dance". No wonder Omari is doing everything he can to get the next generation excited about flatland - with workshops, contests and a good dose of enthusiasm. His dream? The Olympics! If flatland BMX is on the programme one day, he will probably be the first to stand on the podium.

Albert Rabaev - A day in the life of a bicycle courier

Albert Rabaev is pedalling - and we can join him! The Düsseldorfer Fahrradkurier grants in How the hare runs takes a look behind the scenes of his fast-paced job: why he loves his job, what occasionally drives him to white heat and what absurd deliveries he has already managed.

Under time pressure, between traffic lights, sparks and lifts, Albert shows that being a courier is more than just taking parcels from A to B: It's freedom on two wheels - a feeling shared by bike couriers worldwide.

Breakaway Femmes - The forgotten heroines of the tour

For many professional cyclists, the Tour de France is the ultimate dream. But women, who were already making the roads unsafe in the 1980s, had little public awareness of this. From 1984 to 1989, they proved that endurance, tactics and stamina are not the domain of men - yet their successes remained in the shadow of their male colleagues for a long time.

Breakaway Femmes brings these pioneering women back into the limelight. They remember legendary duels for the yellow jersey, cheering fans on the roadside - but also organisational nightmares, questionable awards and plenty of male prejudices. A film that shows: Even if history has almost forgotten them, these women were real champions even back then.

  • Directed by: Eleanor Sharpe
  • With: Maria Canins, Alessandra Cappellotto, Susan Elias, Jeannie Longo, Marianne Martin, Ines Varenkamp-Carlsen, Kelly-Ann Way and many more.

Okawari, please!

Paul Ingram and Josh Tippett have chosen a destination for their first big bikepacking tour that whets their appetite for adventure and sushi in equal measure: Japan. From Kagoshima to Tokyo, they cycle through rural regions that tourists rarely get to see, testing the country's culinary diversity along the way - after all, Josh wants to open a Japanese restaurant back home.

Whether it's rain, mountains or unexpected climbs - Japan provides everything two hungry bikepackers need. And one thing is for sure: after a day of pedalling and adventure, every meal tastes twice as good.

UCX: Lost-Place Urban Cyclocross

A mysterious invitation, a secret meeting place on the outskirts of the city - what's going on here? Two dozen curious people can't resist the temptation. They turn up. On their racing bikes. From all corners of the metropolis. Not a tight-knit group, just a bunch of strangers with a common goal: a hole in the fence. Behind it lies an abandoned football stadium, its best days long behind it. It has never seen a race like this. Today, the dilapidated stands and lawns are witness to adrenaline, sweat and pure cycling fun.

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
