The Topeak E-Booster Digital mini takes bronze in the comparison test of our sister magazine TOUR and impresses as a compact mini compressor with solid pumping power. For 109.95 euros, it offers useful extras such as a silicone cover, hose and integrated light - ideal for small pack sizes when travelling.

Bronze for the smallest in the test field

At 109.95 euros, the Topeak E-Booster Digital mini is positioned in the middle price segment of the seven mini compressors tested from Cycplus, Dynamic, Muc-Off, NG Sports, Silca, Topeak and Trek - and thus clearly undercuts the better-placed models from Silca and Muc-Off. Its biggest trump card: it is the most compact model in the entire test field. Like all devices, it is priced between 60 and 180 euros above mini pumps or CO₂ cartridges, but scores points with its fast, convenient pressure build-up. A tiny piston compressor works inside, driven by a high-speed motor that makes an audible noise and generates a lot of heat. All models have their limits when it comes to tubeless set-up, and some get so hot that they can only be touched with a protective cover.

Solid pumping times without heat problems

All pumps can be operated in a similar way: Display, target value presetting, auto-stop, bar/PSI switchover and usually a short hose with heat protection are standard. In the practical test, all of them had to bring a 30 mm tyre up to four bar - with clear differences: Silca did it in 30 seconds, Trek needed 73 seconds, while the Topeak was in the solid midfield with 62 seconds. In the maximum pressure test up to seven bar, it took 169 seconds and showed its thermal reserves: while some competitors had to struggle with very hot housings, the Topeak remained tolerably warm between 30 and a maximum of 50 degrees. Handling and features were also included in the assessment. The test winner was the Silca pump, which works well, but is large and heavy - this is where the compact Topeak scores points.

Our conclusion

For 110 euros, the Topeak E-Booster Digital mini still ranks in the middle price segment in our comparison and has no significant weaknesses. Four tyres in around 62 seconds each is a solid result, and the 170 seconds to seven bar are also in the good mid-range. The moderate heating is a positive feature: at around 55 degrees (7-bar test), the pump remains significantly cooler than many of its competitors, with only 28 degrees at four bar being top. The finish and feel are high-quality, the integrated light makes it easier to find the valve at dusk and the display is clear and easy to read. All in all, a well-balanced, reliable pump without any real outliers.
