Compared to many other floor pumps we have tested, the Zéfal seems almost small. When fully extended, it measures just 105 centimetres and is therefore also very suitable for smaller people.
The equipment has both light and dark sides, let's start with the cloudy sky: The base and pressure gauge are quite small, making the Zéfal a little wobbly. The pump head doesn't look very high-quality and is somewhat angular, and the hose is particularly short at 80 centimetres.
On the sunny side the FP20 with rubberised base and handle. An accessory case with ball needle and mattress adapter is located at the top of the cylinder. The pump head can be easily adjusted between the common valve types using a slider.

With its very low height and short extension, the Zéfal is ideal for smaller people or narrow cellars. The handle is pleasantly rounded, slightly rubberised and sits comfortably in the hand. The pump looks solid overall, even if it is not particularly high-quality. The stability is better than expected: slightly wobbly, but not critical. The pump is surprisingly stable for its size.
Despite the small stroke volume, the Zéfal requires surprisingly few strokes to inflate a 29x2.35 inch tyre. The manual force remains moderate, which makes pumping a pleasant experience. The performance is perfectly adequate for everyday bikes and MTB setups.
The pressure gauge is pleasingly well designed for the size of the pump: clearly structured display, 0.25 bar increments, decent measuring accuracy. This allows the tyre pressure to be set reliably - not at a professional level, but absolutely suitable for everyday use.
The valve head is the Zéfal's biggest weakness: with its angular shape, it does not sit well in the hand and is also very short, which makes it difficult to attach. The slider for the valve types (Presta/Schrader) is partially self-adjusting when pumping, making it difficult to pull off and allowing air to escape. Overall, the pump head doesn't look very high-quality and detracts from the otherwise solid performance.
The hose is relatively short, which restricts freedom of movement. Positive: Zéfal includes a small accessory box with a ball pin and mattress adapter.
| Category | Grade |
| Handling (40%) | 2,4 |
| Valve head (30%) | 3,1 |
| Pressure gauge (30%) | 2,1 |
| BIKE NOTE | 2,5 |
The Zéfal floor pump is a compact, easy-to-use pump that scores highly with a good pressure gauge and decent pumping performance. However, weaknesses in the valve head and the short hose prevent a better rating. It is a solid choice for small people or as a second pump - there are more convenient alternatives for frequent pumping.
