The car workshop chain also wants to establish itself as a bicycle workshop service provider. A first location is currently under construction.

"A.T.U is now also repairing bicycles and is taking off in Munich," says A.T.U's current job adverts, which are looking for qualified workshop employees for a new bike service offer. In the job adverts, A.T.U also explains where the journey is heading. The vision is a "nationwide range of services for cyclists".

When asked by the portal velobiz.de, company spokesman Markus Meissner explained: "A.T.U has had bicycles in its range for more than 30 years and also offers certain services for them. Recently, we have been repeatedly asked by customers whether we could expand our range of bike services. With the 'BikeService' pilot project, we now want to test comprehensive services and cooperation models."

It will be set up at an existing A.T.U location in Munich-Moosach, directly on the busy Bundesstraße 304. "We are currently still recruiting staff for our branch in Munich Moosach. We are interesting for applicants because we can offer more than the classic bicycle repair shop. As soon as the team is complete, we will open soon," says Meissner.
Regarding other possible locations, Meissner says: "We want to score points with quality. In our bike workshop in Munich, we first want to optimise the processes and the service mix so that we can then offer the services at other locations as well."

A.T.U is not the first garage service provider to venture into the bike service sector. A few weeks ago, Reiff Süddeutschland Reifen und KFZ-Technik GmbH, which operates 30 branches in southern Germany, also gave the go-ahead for "Netto Bike Service" in the north of Munich.
